...practising knee down. The ride from work yesterday was one of the best. I took the usual route up to the Bassetts island. There were no cars about at all, so I started to move my seated position a little, and got more lean than I previously had. Obviously wearing only jeans and no sliders I wasn't going to attempt it, but I think I gained the confidence to start easing into it.
I've read the guide on this site, any other helpful pointers would be appreciated.

Yup, leathers are a good idea before you start pushing corners more. When learnign the one thing most people are not doing enough of is hanging off the bike. You can hang off loads it improves cornering and gets your knee closer to the ground. Remember the purpose of kneedown is as a guide as to how far the bike is leaned over in corners to enable you to ride faster and lean more if you can, not as something for showing off purposes.
Way I learnt and lots of other on here have learnt if by going with someone who can already do kneedown to a roundabout and them helping you by telling you what you're doing wrong etc. Keep an eye on outings and excursions forum for stuff going on near you which could be suitable. Just keep going a bit further until you do manage it, but don't try increasing your lean or speed in big amounts always try bit at a time to help learn where the limits are.
Hope this is helpful. |
