Hi all,
Summer is coming and I have decided this year that I wanna look all cool and stuff Smile
Soooo, I wondered if any of you have had tried kevlar hoodies? Would the ones with armor be any good in a spill?
Cheers
CKB

How you supposed to change gear with one hand holding it over your head cause of wind blast?

Unless, of course, you are riding a moped where windblast isn't really an issue....

To prevent against abrasion, you need protective clothing that's got a snug fit really - otherwise you can get quite nasty 'road rash' from your clothing gripping on the tarmac and sliding along your skin.
I've had this in the past with a loose jacket.

Do not expect kevlar to be cool.

Think about a hoodie and what will happen to it should you slide down the road Embarassed

Hoody is likely to ride up and expose fleshy bits unless it attaches to your trousers in some way.
By the time you throw an armoured hoody on, you could put a decent jacket on.

Than what?

My multiple-vent textile and leather jacket is cooler than my kevlar lined (literal) sweater, while offering far more protection.

I have a kevlar hoodie with armour,

I'll wear it if i want to ride the 1/2 mile into town or to my father in laws house.

Apart from that, I wear textiles (and sweat profusely in the process)

Stick some velcro to the top of your head and inside the hood of course.

It does beg the question, how do pikeys do it? Perhaps their hoods have actually fused with their scalps. Thinking

They never wash so the grease on their hair makes it stick to them.

I’ve got one and they’re pretty useless in hot weather. If you’re on a motorway or A road doing some speed then you don’t want to be wearing one of these, yes they’re cool but I’d wager they’re useless in an off. Around town in hot weather you’ll sweat your nuts off.
You’re far better off with the leather with zipped vents under the arms and chest, or a textile mesh.

So to sell this you are going to have to do a u-tube video of you sliding down the road to show just how impressive it really is when it counts Rolling Eyes

Go for it, it's better than wearing a normal hoody.

That being said, you're not a YouTube star living in California so people probably dont give a f*ck what you look like...

I would go for proper gear so that at least you'll live to dream of a life where people give a sh*t about what you wear on your bike... you'll still have to carry it round the corner shop with you.

I guess it will feel warmer up the milk isle though...
