But all of the sellers are living very far away from me, how stupid is it to pickup 15+ old bike without checking it out first, and getting it delivered? Either from private or dealer seller

Do you not have van hire places near you? I specialise in buying old shite but I wouldn't swop ponds for a 15 year old 400 sight unseen unless it was very very cheap.

In that situation I'd pay scrap price, expect scrap to turn up, and cry tears of joy if it arrived in anything better than scrap condition.

Its a massive risk IMO.

Not even then. I've been on part-time lookout for one of these for years and they've become "future classic, will only go up in value" type of bike. If it was super cheap, I'd be super suspicious.

OP: Where is near you? Many members would be willing to check out a bike for you in exchange for beer tokens.
