Hey, this is my first post and i'm trying to find the root cause of an issue im experiencing with my new bike.

Bike: Honda Hornet CB600F-8

Issue: Rev needle stuck at 4k, no mileage info displayed, no engine management displayed. Lights working, starts first time every time, neutral light working.

Video: https://youtu.be/i6dFsghsTxI

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated, i look forward to being involved on the forum!

Lee

Some bikes you the rev counter as a readout for an error code. that would indicate to me you have error 4.

Actually ignore that I've just watched the video, it looks fucked.

Check fuses and connections to the clocks.

This is great, thanks!

As they are all on the same connection i think something has come loose under the seat (I hope its this, and not a new unit needed!)

changed the fuse over to the spare and it sorted it out... Until i looked up after putting my seat back on the bike and it was in a similar state but now with the rev needle at 0. Appears to me to be a bad earth shorting out and blowing the fuse.

Hi all, sorry to bring up on old post, however i'm having the same problem with the speedo and rev counter although mine is intermittent. Did you confirm this was due to a bad earth in the end?

Cheers

Jon

Good on you for searching.
Just checked leecurtis89's profile, he hasn't posted since this thread, so is unlikely to reply.
Someone will hopefully be along to help.
Intermittent problems with electronics, sounds like a faulty wire / bad earth.
Have you checked the wiring from the back of the clocks?

Yes i did think that but hoped he might be prompted by an email!

Not checked the wiring from the back of the clocks as yet, that is the weekend job, the manual says to check the live from the battery and ignition plus the continuity of the fuel wire. Will start there and work back.

Here's a video of what is happening in case anyone has any other suggestions: https://youtu.be/3Tw8WZoczUA

Whats strange is that when making that video yesterday it was the first time it had re-set itself multiple times. Normally the lcd screen goes blank and then won't come back until the bike has been left off for a 20 minutes or so.

cheers
