Been looking at getting a bike satnavs to replace the car one and sandwich bag. Halfords have got some serious money off the Rider 400. Appears as £280 online, but put it in your basket and it's £225!! Normally £320 or £260ish on eBay.

Seems to be limited availability and reserve at store only..

Could be useful for someone?

https://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductMobileDisplay?msg=&catalogId=10151&langId=-1&categoryId=318418&productId=1129695&storeId=10001

Regards, Moo.

Still probably ten times what it cost to make. Honestly, just how much can it cost to put a low-res touchscreen in a box with some basic software when you have millions of them to sell?

Maybe they are trying to re-coup some of the cost involved in buying such complex softwear and mapping softwear?

Or they just want to make a big profit?

They did that by selling their customer's speed data to the police so that they could put speed traps up.

smartphones and generic car sat navs are crap for use on a bike, screen is useless when in bright sunlight, they take you fastest route( not the best route) cant be operated with gloves, battery life is shit and they have to be kept in a waterproof holder. Bike specific is the way to go if you use it more than a few times a year, good price to, and you can use it in your car If you so wish

That price does seem good, but when compared to the garmin zumo 390lm which has free lifetime UK and EU maps for 250 seems a rip off. Not sure if the tom tom is a better model though>

Glad I reserved mine last night, thanks for the heads up!

They are expensive but considering they're £320/360 everywhere else, it's a good deal....let's just hope they honour the £225 in store!

You might want to check the tom tom forums before you buy. Lots of people not happy with it. It's still in beta testing and the last update caused quite a few new bugs.

The reason it's cheap is they're bringing out the next model by the looks of things.

I have TomTom system in work van which is great, I like the look of the winding routes function which should be good for my trips this summer, will be better than using google maps on the iPhone thats for sure!

Hi

I stopped using TomToms when they stopped you being able to update simply by dragging & dropping maps.

I now just use cheap and cheerful chinese satnavs. £25 for the car one, which also doubles as the camper satnav, as can change the vehicle type, setting your own dimensions. Ive also got a chinese motorbike satnav, and fitted mounts to 3 of my bikes, all connected to the bike battery.

They work really well. Granted the motorbike satnav cost about £60.

The 410 is just the 400 with world maps on it and preloaded with 100 great biking routes. the hardware is exactly the same.
The 400 model has lifetime map, traffic and speed camera updates the 40 doesn't have speed camera updates. You do have to pair it with a phone tho to get the live traffic, but this causes some problems for people getting distorted voice directions.
I have the TT 40 if anyone has any questions.
