Picked up a bottle today in Tesco (it was on sale for £2). Before I give it a go was just wondering if anyone had any experience of using it on a bike? Not gonna put much in (25ml?) as it's meant for a 50L tank.

I have used such product before. It did work in my GPz550, but not much of a difference in my mates CBR919RR.

Later on I found out, that if you ride your motorcycle flat out, every now and then, then it's got the same effect as using a fuel system/engine cleaner. I would recomend the cleaner for older motorcycles, where I have noticed improvement. The engine got somehow smoother and calmer.

You're gonna have to use it at least for a week before it makes any difference and if your engine is already in alright condition, it won't do a thing. As you say the cleaner is meant for 50L, I'd just use 1/5 of the cleaner in 10 liters of petrol, 5 times.

Plugs out.
Redex in cylinders.
Leave for several days.
Crank to expel as much as possible.
Plugs in.
Drive/ride.
EPIC SMOKECREEN.

That's what Redex is for. Whistle

Honestly, I think the need for it has been obviated by modern petrol and lean burning engines. It's unlikely to hurt though, and placebos do make you feel better.

Not on a bike, but I had to MOT the car last week. Last year it took multiple attempts to pass the emissions test and it still only passed by a whisker, even after i'd thrashed the car down the carriageway beforehand.

Still has the same issues and engine light as I haven't been arsed to fix it, so I thought i'd try throwing half a bottle of Redex I had lying around in a few days before for the fuck of it. Passed first time with completely normal results this time.

Maybe coincidence, or maybe not. I honestly have no idea Laughing.

The bottle I had said to use half the 500ml bottle for a 50L tank of petrol so if the bikes not got a tiny tank it might be okay to put in a fair bit more than 25ml?

Sounds like an excuse for a hoon Whistle Actually forgot that a mates cbr600f started cutting out, and he took it for a fast/long run (his mechanic recommend doing so) to solve the issue.

15L tank. Got a 250ml bottle and it says 2 tanks, that's why I was thinking around 30ml, 25ml being easier to work out and not risking putting too much in.

Used to throw a full 500 ml bottle in every full tank, to cure a low speed stutter on my CBR600F4 carb model. This made me think it was carb related, so stripped and cleaned them. No change, eventually found a coil was at fault.

Redex seems to be mostly paraffin.

All it really does is help shift water and helps a bit if you suffer from carb icing.

I've used BG44K in the past with some success. Redex is like a weak version of that.

I find the Viff needs a good old ragging every so often to get her smooth again so don't really bother. I just chuck a tank of BP Ultimate through it once a month and the detergents in that supposedly help keep the carbon deposits down.
