A few nights ago, I couldn't sleep and felt a bit restless, a bit peckish as well, so thought 'why not ride to the 24hr McDonald's on the other side of the city?'. It would be a good excuse for a ride on nice empty roads and get some (debatably) good grub down me Gregory Peck.
It'd been raining a bit earlier that day so the tarmac was still a wee bit moist, no problem. I was gleefully weaving and slaloming any manhole covers and other assorted pain-in-the-arse ironworks on bends with great aplomb. A nice, efficient ride, I'm getting good at this.
Got to the aforementioned McDonalds and slowly rode into it's car park and parked up thinking I was like Marlon Brando in The Wild One.
Turned the engine off, dismounted, turned and walked away.
*SLAP*
I forgot to put the sidestand down.
Thank fook nobody saw it.
No damage, apart from my clutch lever bent into a horseshoe shape, which meant the ride home was all two fingered and bloody hard work on those poor digits.
I just felt like a massive tit, that's all. Marlon would not have been very proud of me. It spoiled my enjoyment of the two quarter pounders I'd purchased.
New crappy obviously Chinese made replacement lever was ordered from Ebay and arrived the next day and put on. No-one need never know.
So fellow newbies, don't forget that side stand.

My girlfriend almost dropped the cbf125 I bought a week or so ago,
She is interested in riding now, she sees my buzz and childish hyperness when I get back in from a ride,
She's abit of a shortarse at 5foot2,
Told her to sit on the bike and try it for size,
She is too small for it really, Anyway she got off and put no side stand down and I had to catch it,
Quite heavy when it's falling,
I laughed it off but probably wouldn't have if it hit the floor,
It is a 2012 and used but I am really enjoying it,
Dunno if she thought it would just sort of float when she got off it,
Now to find somewhere that does cbts on the Honda MSX or other little bikes for her,
Glad the damage wasn't too bad on your bike and I am sure it is lesson learned, very much a learner myself and finding the urge to go out on the bike whenever I can at anytime,
Preferably late and quite at the moment, shame about the rain as well at the minute, still a cautious rider as it's my first bike and I have alot to learn ____________________ Cbt Done, Currently wobbling around on a Cbf125 and love it

Pulled away with as much gusto as you can on a 125 once. Steering lock still on.
Thrown from bike like a sack of spuds in front of the clunge I was trying to impress with a fast getaway. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

It fell onto the kerb and a steep grass embankment at a funny angle where I couldn't get under it, or at the lower bar, and as soon as I got any lift on it, it rolled forward again.
5 minutes of sweating and swearing, before a chavboi got out of his bangin' Clio and rescued me.
Won the challenge though. |
