Hey ooop.
Any clicky keyboard fans on here? The prices have gone bonkers mental for new and old stuff, same as anything that becomes chic in it's intended market I guess. As an antidote to these £100 20 odd year old IBM boards and the big brand gaming units, I found this charmingly named 'Eastern Times' 87 key with 'blues'. Obviously they're not Cherry switches, so the colour thing is moot, but the unit is surprisingly very good. I do a lot of typing and have already put a fair amount of time in using this board. It has a nice weighty base, rubbery adjustable feet and doesn't move around at all. The keys have a nice amount of travel, a very satisfying click and is really pretty cool all round. Some Chinese stuff is alright!

Anyone got a cool board they like?

I do prefer the old IBM deflecting spring keyboards. Nicer to type on that the quite horrible things sold mostly these days.
I do have one that could do with fixing.
Unicomp still make them:-

The UK distributor is:-

At some point I will buy another for work.
All the best

That's cool, I hadn't realised they were still being made! Begs the question why are people paying such large amounts of money for old ones?
That looks exactly like the one I've bought, except mine hasn't got the funky back lighting!
Those Logitechs look nice, well rated as well...

I've had a couple of boards now. First was a Corsair k65 with mx reds which I got on OK with, and could type fast but not accurately. now i've got a quickfire tk with mx browns. not overly in love to be honest, going to move onto something with blues as soon as i can. natural progression!
both of these are 10keyless or a version of, but i'm definitely going back to a proper numpad as i use it a lot for work so miss it at home. fancy a filco or something similar ____________________ Current Ride: VFR750 |

I use a black Filco with blank keycaps at work; it looks a bit like this, except no markings at all:
https://s14.postimg.org/dq6xy01i9/1343720515743.jpg
(And obvisouly a Filco, not this layout.)
I use the blank keycaps because (a) I use a Dvorak layout with some customizations, and (b) because it looks neat.
Cherry red switches, fine keyboard. Full-on clicky is anti-social, whether in an open-plan office or a house you share with anyone else. Non-clicky keyboards are loud enough as it is.
The Filco is reassuringly heavy. It'll do as a self-defence weapon in a pinch. You could definitely kill someone with it.
At home I use a Corsair K90, also Cherry Red switches. I don't use the programmable keys very often, but when I do they're nice to have. Especially handy in games that have some kind of mode switching that's tedious. I would not otherwise recommend Corsair keyboards though - early firmware (i.e. first 18 months of ownership) had a really dreadful debouncing problem where keystrokes sometimes registered twice, including the Delete key - made deleting files etc. with the keyboard risky. Also, Corsair cheaped out on a bunch of keys: Home / End / Page Up / Page Down and all the F keys are rubber dome, making them mushy. I use the edit block a lot when programming and the F keys a lot when debugging, so it's upsetting. ____________________ Bikes: S1000R, SH350; Exes: Vity 125, PS125, YBR125, ER6f, VFR800, Brutale 920, CB600F, SH300x4
