Inspired by wafer thin hams thread on the gsxr750 I decided to have a look for some 0% deals myself and found this...
https://www.kestrelhonda.co.uk/pages/offers/adventure-offers.htm
It's the non dct one, £187 a month over 3 years with £2.5k deposit which would be my blackbird and final payment of £1250. Must admit I'm very tempted by this.
Has anybody else bit the bullet? ____________________ Current bike: Honda CBR 1100xx |

If you consistently buy new bikes it's not a terrible option, it's why the GS is a consistent seller, PCP renewals. |
OP isn't talking abut a PCP deal. It's straight finance but has a final payment of 1250 quid. I wonder how much interest you'd get if you stuffed 1250 quid away for 3 years. Not a lot I'd wager, but better than nothing and you're not having to pay the extra 35 quid each month for 36 months..

It's the same general principle as PCP, although with PCP you get the option to hand the bike back rather than buying it.
Given the quality of modern bikes, that's beginning to look like a more attractive option. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

If they last as long as 3 years it'll be an improvement for some bikes.
I rather like the idea of being able to say "Come and collect your out-of-warranty but not-fit-for-purpose bike if you like, but devil another penny will you see from me." ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

There are also switch gear problems (Water ingress IIRC), and have heard of a couple of the DCT ones hitting a false neutral, then whacking into gear causing the bike to suddenly jerk forwards. Difficult to say if this is rider error or what though.
That said the people that have them seem to love them. ____________________ My Flickr |

A proper long haul rough terrain vehicle and you have to worry about the cleaning routine, come on.
Another case of cutting corners with fittings. ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |

But then you've got absolutely fuck all to show for your deposit and 3 or 4 years of payments. At least if you've got it on straight finance the bike is yours at the end of the term and you can trade it in for something else if you want shut of it. |
Urgh.
You're going to be paying for the depreciation on a vehicle one way or another. PCP lets you pay (approximately) for just that, with an option to pay the rest and own outright at the end, leaving you in exactly the same position as if you'd straight financed.
For the same interest rates, PCP will never cost you more, will cost you less as you go, and gives you more flexibility at the end. If you like the bike, pay to keep it. If you don't, or if you think the balloon payment is more than it's worth, walk away.
I know it's new fangled and therefore suspicious, but it's really not some cunning trap. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

What's the financial penalty on a PCP deal for not servicing 'by the book' at a main-dealer?

Again, provided you don't go over the milage and the bike is in the condition they expect it to be at the end of the term. |
Then you pay the final balloon and you own it, leaving yourself in exactly the same position as straight finance would have obliged you to be in. Other than keeping the money in your pocket longer.
Again, no worse off, and you might be better.
This desperation to find ah-but-what-if worst case gotchas in PCP is bizarre, especially if you're comparing it to straight finance at the same rate. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
