I'd appreciate if this isn't marked spam, as there is a genuine chance someone here might be interested, if not I wouldn't post it.

I'm recruiting for a lead gearbox engineer for a major wind turbine manufacturer, to be based in Germany. They want someone with experience in gearbox design and product development, from the Automotive, Aerospace or Heavy Industry sectors.

I know there are a few engineers on here, so I thought it would be worth asking.

Salary is up to €75,000 per annum, based in Dortmund. If you refer me to someone who gets the job you'll get a £200 finders fee.

PM me for more info Thumbs Up

I've played with Lego and K'nex in the past.

I believe my skills to be above average, have constructed a windmill, close to a wind turbine but used 2 AA batteries. I can learn on the job.

Is it Siemens? I bet it's Siemens.

I'm guessing this is experience with epicyclic gearboxes though, which are pretty rarely used so I don't know how well you'll go about getting experienced bods in.

My HNC contained a unit on gearing though. I'll do it if I can work from home Razz

I've changed the oil in my Enfield's gearbox. I realise this probably over-qualifies me for working in the 'green' energy sector though. Sad

Hah, joke's on you, it only leaks primary oil and engine oil, not gear oil. Razz

75k per year? Mad

Try Kerla, India. If they'll not put their fat hands deeper into their corporate pockets they'll not recruit proper engineers for sweetie money.

I'm an automotive design engineer, mostly concept level body mechanisms or general body components not the proper dirty bits though. Very tempted to put in an application for this but this would be me...

"Up to".

Subsidy hose must be spluttering a bit.

We may be entering the nightmare future when "renewable" energy actually needs to renew itself. Shocked Pale

Enfield is now leaking engine oil.

Maybe should be in workshop but Tesco, Morrison et al do cracking baking sheets that fit classic British bikes. 👍
I bought two, colour coded as well.

I'm always the innovator when it comes to gearboxes. Currently I'm working on a project trying to find 7th gear on the CBR.

It is not Siemens Wink

Considering they'll take someone with 5-8 years experience if they're competent, I don't think €75k is too bad of a salary in Germany Confused They can also stretch to 80-85 for a bit more experience.

I've been looking at people from Romax and David Brown Gear Systems in the UK, they seem to have a lot of people with the right fit. Does anyone know any other companies that specialist in gearboxes?

That must have been one hell of a flexible gearbox. Shocked

Nah, same one. Just connect it either way depending on if you want speed or torque.

That explains a lot. So that extra housing on the side of the Aston Martin g/box must be the PTO then.

How much will they offer someone with a bit less experience (With an MEng)??

Sent you a PM about what you stated about those companies.

A junior doctor can make that sort of money in the UK, in an apprenticeship, with a cracking pension and holiday package. Smile

And this is exactly why I left my job as a power train engineer after 18 months to go back to uni and do a Msc in accounting and Finance.

As my friend said 'I've never known a bunch of such intelligent people earn so little money'

Can I ask how you are finding the transition into finance vs engineering?? I'm coming to the last few weeks of MEng. I did debate with myself finance, but vast majority is in London Thumbs Down
