Hi, is it a good idea to use one of those steam cleaners on a bikes frame and engine? Steam cleaners are meant to be very good at getting oil and shit off and I've heard of it being done to engines before when not on a vehicle etc.. but will it be ok to use one on my frame, swingarm and engine of the supermoto safely?

Obviously graphics and plastics etc are a no-no.. but the mechanical parts? Will it cause any damage/be a silly idea?

It'd probably do the same thing as pressure washers, getting water into unwanted areas like bearings and things.

So for me that would be a no no!

Use good old degreaser and elbow grease Razz.

Pressure washers are fine as long as you don't point them at electrics or somewhere with bearings or grease in/ on it. Smile And much easier and less work than doing it by hand. Razz

Hi

If the bike is really dirty then maybe, but be prepared for problems.

A car dealer steam cleaned the engine bay of one of our cars despite being specifically told not to (power steering fluid leak). It took them about a week to get the car to run properly afterwards.

All the best

Keith

Take the thing through a car wash.

For ultimate style, stay on it during the wash.

It has been done ( not by sane people, but...........)

Cheers,

Byrnie.
