Hello to all riders out there!

So after a stint of 3-4 years with no bike I am now all again ready to get back into business of riding as that's something I use to love and I hope that I still do!

Anyway, I want to get a sport bike for the summer, 600cc. It will be my weekend missile so I won't be doing commuting or probably even riding it in the rain! Laughing

My choices are pretty much -

CBR600RR - Love 2004-2005 model and they go for good price, my favorite at the min, just want to make sure I'm not too big for it. Wouldn't say no to an newer model if something good comes around for the right price.

ZX6R 2007 onwards - Had ninja G2 in the past, loved it, love the looks of them and bright colors!! This one is high on the list as well, they go for the right price and seem that they might be little better suited for my height ?

Yamaha R6 2006 onwards - Had R6 2000 in the past, absolutely loved it, only had it few months but was very impressed! Models 2006 onwards look absolutely amazing but I'm getting a feeling that I will look stupid on it being 6ft2 and it will look like a toy with me on it!

GSXR 600 2007 onwards - Love the look of them, had Gixxer SRAD as my first big bike! Was a great way of introducing myself into the world of sports bikes! But I know that build quality of these might not be as high as the other three mentioned, it doesn't put me off though. I just remember that foot pegs were very high on gixxer SRAD so I'm assuming newer GSXR might be kinda the same ?

Daytona 675 - Like the look of them but prefer in line four engine, plus from what I have heard and read that they're not so suited for taller riders.

I want to stick to 600cc but could stretch to 750cc if I had to, bike will be used purely as a toy though!

So all you tall riders out there please help me to decide which bike to go with, I'm quite physically fit myself so should be able to take low comfort well, but would prefer to not look too stupid on the bike!

Toy...stretch to an R1 then.

Any reason for the limit in cc for a toy. A true toy would be about 60hp and weigh next to nothing. Supermoto yo

I don't think I have ever felt need for more power than 600cc and never actually ridden a 1000cc plus living in London with the amount of speed cameras there I need to be careful Laughing

Never been a big fan of supermotos, maybe I'll look into them more.

I am the same height, CBR 600F does the job well. Tried R6 and Ninja but ended up back at 600F. Thumbs Up

Stretch to a GSXR 750 suzuki. More room, more power, more smiles. I wouldn't buy a supersport 600 if I was Tyrion Lannister never mind 6' 2'.

I'm 6ft3, and I've previously owned an r6, and I currently own a 2004 gsxr600.

The r6 was okay. A bit cramped up, not great for long journeys. The gsxr however is a totally different ball game. It's a little bigger, and the most comfortable bike I've owned. You have more room between the seat and tank. Makes it lovely to stretch out on. Pegs are in a good position too....

6ft2 is about 1.88m? That's not tall, I am taller and the smallest motorcycle I've owned was the CB-1, which I found perfectly alright for me to ride. If you want a comfortable/big sportsmotorcycle, go for some classic 90's motorcycles. The ZX7R, that I had, was huge by comparrison with modern 1000cc superbikes. Thumbs Up

I watched two Sunday hoon riders come down the Hagley road in Edgbaston yesterday evening. They were on fairly new under 3year old CBR and GSXR 600's. The bikes did look smaller and a bit more cramped and alot more focused than the 600's in our day. Sounded good though, and they were having fun too.

I'd quite like a go on a brand new or modern ZX6R or similar, just to see how different it feels to ride than the 2001 J-series I had in the day. Would not expect to enjoy it though, and I'd not buy another sportsbike, but that's probably more about me not liking modern bikes anymore as opposed to being anti sports bike. A GPZ900r was a sportsbike and it sounds much more fun and interesting now to me than a new R1 etc.

Whatever bike you like, and if someone thinks you look silly on it, tell them to "fvck off"
Secondly I have an older ZX6r and have had no issues with it regarding how I fit on it and I`m 6`3 and a half/ 16 stone Embarassed
My mate is 6`2/ 15 and stone and he had an old ZZr 600 and he never had any issues regarding his size and the bike.

I'm 6'1 with longish legs (34in inside leg) and for longer runs I could do with pegs that were slightly lower (can't do Manchester to Birmingham on motorway without stopping in Staffordshire)

other than that nice and comfy

You will just need to test ride a few, buy one that's most comfortable for you. Personally, I love my R6, I'm 6'5, I may look big on it, but f*@k it, it's the best bike I own, and they wheelie like no tomorrow.

Only ever felt too big for a bike when I owned a GPZ305 everyother bike is fine for me.

Over the last 3-4 years London traffic has got even slower (many 20 limits) and the road surfaces are worse. Paddy's suggestion of a supermoto is a good one. I'd rather be able to see and have more suspension travel than have 60hp more than I can use.

My personal commute (EC2) has gotten faster the last year or 2, I have really noticed a drop off him traffic. A clean run used to be 30~ mins, now it is closer to 25.

Did you post this on a Facebook group recently? Saw exactly the same thing the other day.

If your not doing track days maybe consider an FZ1.

Don't see how a 600 sports bike is gonna help with that.

Absolutely agree. I probably swamp my Striple, but that's the last thing I'm thinking about when riding it.
