..was going to the seaside..but needed to know whee Leicester is for my theory test in a couple of weeks...so rode there...22.7 miles each way it was.

Leicester roads are damned busy...and there are some idiotic drivers around !!

My ass KILLS ! It has never been this sore before...and I have ridden further than that Embarassed

For my FIRST ever time...I actually OVERTOOK a car ! It was a struggle though...I had to give it all I had and managed to do 65 (the car was doing about 60)..
I was so pleased when I finally 'did it' !!

Today was also my record for biker nods !! I must have got about 10..it was an amazing feeling !

I can't wait to do my test...I have decided to get a 'bigger bike' and have it restricted..don't know what yet though.

I don't think I will lose too much money on the CG ??

Make sure you aren't wearing over tight trousers. My ass kills if I put my gore-tex trousers over my leathers, I got them before I had leathers and they are just that bit too tight.

Honda CB400/4 is a popular one with the ladies, engine runs like a sewing machine, comfy riding position, neutral handling, thrashability and genuine distance ability. Low saddle. I rode a friends one and was very impressed with it.

Congratulations on the overtake! I too have only ever overtaken one moving vehicle on my bike so I can appreciate your excitement!

Shame about your ass hurting, oh well - it must be a sign that you're toning your ass muscles!

Have you got any bigger bikes in mind Jodie? I'm still stuck with a choice of 4 for my bigger bike, so if you need to go bike window shopping give me a shout!

I've been forced to pass a couple of times already on rides with some more experienced riders. If the going gets tough, they pass in the breakdown lane...sheesh.

Your probably experianceing the discomfort of the "vibes" and there really reaslly isn't anything can be done about it...

The most uncomfortable ride out ever was this time last year 100miles of a-roads at absoloutely full revs most of the way.. its allot of effort rideing a bike at its limit everywhere just to get enoughg power to keep you moveing forward!

there are allof of bikes out there that are good first biger bikes, depends how much you want to spend really, and where your going to go on it, touring, back roads? 3miles a day? 30miles a day?

250 or a 400 will probably suit best, all cheepish and light and one or two of the 250s wont need restricting wither...

Also (for future reference) you can use a dyno run as proof of restriction, which is about £50 as opposed to £200 for a bit of paper. apparently (can't remember who posted it)

Well my GS500E (shameless plug because I love the bike, shhh) is great as a "step up" bike from a 125, and my ass has yet to hurt, mainly it is the wrists (clutch+town riding+arms in wrong position) so yeah, I don't have many sore ass days, guess I'm lucky.
But the commuter 500's are another option to look at for your next step up maybe, just a suggestion but it works for me, and mine is extra sexy.... but that's a whole different topic so yeah, and congrats on the overtake, I miss struggling to overtake things, it was kind of fun Laughing Thumbs Up

Hi

The 400/4 is a nice enough bike, but getting hold of a decent one for reasonable money could be difficult now, and a tatty one would need quite a bit of maintenance. Might not be so good until you have more experience of weilding a spanner.

Personally I would say go and find a large dealer (D&K are good for this) and just have a wander round seeing what grabs your fancy.

All the best

Keith
