Welcome to the forum, Daniel.

I can't help with that specific bike, though I'm sure someone will be able to. I'd be interested to know what country you're in as it might help you choose based on local dealer support there.

Some Chinese bikes are quite poorly supported in the UK and it might be a similar story where you are.

No. Just no.

£2200 for just 7.5kW / 10hp? And only 1 year warranty. Laughing

The moment that you turn the key, it will half in value, if you can find a buyer.

Just for example: Honda CBR125R, 2012, 480 miles, £2200.

You can do far, far better for that money.

If you really want to buy a brand new Chinese plastic bike, I wouldn't spend more than £1200 + OTR on a Lexmoto XTRS 125. Less to lose, decent parts support, a touch more power and less weight than the "AJS" (which will also just be some rebadged Chinese hack).

But again, your money would be far better spent on a used CBR, R125 or any other Japanese or Italian branded bike, as it will hold its value much better.

As Rogerborg says (take his advice). Chinky bikes have a bad reputation for reliability and parts falling off, and it will lose value before you even part money for it.

A friend had an AJS, had to kick start it as the electric start got waterlogged and packed up.

generally was an ok bike but was only used for enjoyment not for commuting etc.

best thing that happened for her was someone stole it and dropped a match in the tank otherwise she'd have lost a lot selling it on.

I had the opposite. Bike kept for 3 years as daily commute (all year round) and weekend 250 mile tourer (of anywhere within 150 miles of me). Kept outside in all weathers for the first 2 years.
Nothing went wrong that wasn't down to me.

AJS were always helpful and parts available. Except brake caliper servicing kits, had to buy a new caliper if required, which was annoying.
Sold it to a local chap for 55% of what I bought it for 3 years previous.
I still see him using it.
Really wish I hadn't sold it. Wish I'd tried fitting a 150cc kit, or 180 if I could find it. Probably would have killed it, but wish I'd tried.

But that bike was linked to Yamaha. Shared layout + components with YBR and engine design probably a joint project with Yamaha given the interchangeable components and their interest in the company since 2004.
Would I buy the R7. Hell no. Get a 4yr old CBR125. Sell it after passing test for not much less than you paid for it.

Pretty please, be specific about models.

The "AJS" Eco aka the "Yamaha" YBR 125 aka the Jianshe JS125-6 seems to be the standout of the bunch.

But the badge on it means very little, except for insurance and resale purposes.

Am I the only one that noticed duel disks on the front?
Surely way overkill for a 125?
That Chinese tat is sure starting to look pretty though!

...no.

That'll be one reason why it weighs more than a Skyjet... sorry, Lexmoto XTR.

The one genuinely positive point is the big fuel tank. AJS seems to like reselling big tanked bikes. The 320cc twin that they were trying to flog (looks like they've given up) had a tank that was over 27 litres (6 gallons), good for north of 450 miles.

I had the AJS JS125 before the bike I have now, and it was sold to me as a Yahama YBR125 but with a different badge, everything else was put together in the same factory as the Yam. I found it to be slightly underpowered (yup, even for a 125), the build quality was a bit poor (coming from the CBF owner) but as a bike it was ok.

My advice? Shop around and get something else. I bought a 2nd hand CBF, just under 2 years old for £1400 (when the AJS got nicked). I thought that it was a much better bike. Bigger tyres, bigger frame and generally felt more substantial.

With the R7, you are paying extra for a bike that *looks* like a supersports bike but is underpowered. It'd be like the nobs who put a fat noisy exhaust on a 1 litre Ford Fiesta.
