Cronik has completed his very compulsory, very basic training!

So, how did I eventually decide to get it done?

Well, simple. I put down my keyboard, grabbed 5 scores, put on my shoes and walked to my local center less than a mile away.

Walked up to the place, kicked down the door and demanded to speak to the guy who owns the joint. Emerging from the shadows, a man known locally as 'Taz'. Tattooed, bearded and zero-tolerance for nice guys. Type of guy to wear an eye-patch when not necessary. I looked him square in the eye and grabbed him by the collar,

"Listen here ye' old coot! I want to do my CBT and I want to do it as fast as the day will allow it!"

I stroked his beard as I released him from my grasp, put my deposit on the desk and calmly backed out of the shop.

2 days later, I came back. All geared, all feared with no intentions to pay for the door. Ready to take on the titan, the myth: the renown CG125.

I sit atop it. I fiddle a bit. I get used to the smell of petrol in me nostrils and I turn the ignition, pull the clutch in and throw it into gear. I gently molest the throttle, feeling for it. Something I have longed to do for 8 months now. Clutch was giving me lip all day. I pulled up on Taz, threw the helmet off and told him if his training bike didn't behave then I'd eat his sandwiches that he saved for lunch and that he'd starve. Threw the helmet back on the hair-laden cranium and blew him a kiss before shutting down my visor and erasing his presence from my field of vision. I mounted the CG once more and played again. The thought of riding translated greatly, mirroring the reality. I was happy in the actuality of becoming a biker.

I stall it, possibly 8 times that day?

I got told to "come back tomorrow". "Not nuff' time to go road".

I came back tomorrow when there's nuff-time.

I leapt onto the roads and stalled it at the first red I came across...twice. Stomping that old bulls kickstarter. I stall it at the next red and nearly drive (yes, present participle) the poor CG into the other CBTerton via rear passage into his exhaust. I also ran the next red light.

I get shouted at.

I redeem the ride on the way back. I made the road my bitch.

I take a wrong turn off- but I didn't care.

I got back and was told that I was insane and that he was borderline whether to give me my certificate or not... edging towards a stern, "No". So I threatened his family, slept with his wife and spent all his savings. He left. I waited... he came back. Certificate in hand. Very happy indeed I was.

I was told I had poor road-sense, but great bike control/positioning and that he can't teach me experience.

I hear him, clear as the polluted airways in which I breathe.

I did it, Roger.

I finally completed basic, compulsory training.

You had great bike control and yet managed to stall it umpteen times and almost rear ended the other guy on the course?

Hmmm

Pictures of shoes or you don't own any.

Splendid, top notch, onwards and upwards. Be on notice that after your tests will have been passed (yes, future perfect) your penis will transmute into a clenched fist.

Comes now 8 months of weighing up the merits of getting a 125 or doing A2/A.

Sounds similar to my CBT experience, apart from the nearly running into the other rider and running red light. The tutor was apparently very close to not giving me my CBT on the second day because I kept forgetting to turn the indicator off and wasn't getting up to road speed. I think he was a little mean, especially considering he wouldn't let us have a break for lunch. The weather was awful too, I was mentally and physically tired, wet, hungry and so cold I was physically shaking by the time the afternoon came.
I've been out for a ride today and it seemed so much easier.
