Hi all,

I have a three year old custom build PC that I've just installed DOOM on to. However it's running a bit laggy whenever I get into a mass firefight.

The spec was:
3GHz Intel i5
8GB RAM
2GB ASUS Geforce GT 640
120Gb SSD (OS only)
1Tb HDD 7200rpm

I've added an extra 8GB of RAM and also got a 3.4GHz i7 from a mate slotted in. However, it's so a bit slow.

I have access to a WD VelociRaptor 10krpm HDD which should improve things.

However, should I also plump for a new graphics card?

That's the only item Is need to spend on. Any recommendations?

Thanks

GFX card, upgrade it.

I think Jayy might be selling a decent one.

Not yet, it has been returned due to "running too hot at idle", which isn't strictly true but it allowed me to return it as I was on 21 days out of 14 for returns but within 30 days for DOA.

They have the card, they will be testing it and letting me know whether a refund or returning the card to me, so have to see what they say...

However, it's a top end 980ti which I paid £571 for, so if I was selling it, it would be in the region of £485.

I also have a set of GTX 680 4GB cards but one is in my second rig and the other is in my machine whilst I find out what's going on with the 980ti. Probably looking at £90 for one of those 680's and keep the other in my backup rig.

Ideally, they will refund me and I will buy a 1080 in a few weeks + Vive
