Hi folks,

I've been trying to get the front suspension working right on my SV650 track bike.

I've changed the springs to RaceTech 0.9kg springs (which are supposed to be correct for my weight), and fitted gold valve emulators, with 20wt oil.

I get static sag (just the bike's own weight) of around 10mm, then about another 10mm when I get on the bike, this is with virtually no preload on the springs at all (just about 1 or 2mm). Friction in the forks is fine/not much.

So you would think I need softer springs, but the problem is I'm also getting the dust seal all the way up to the triple clamp under braking, which I guess would mean I need harder springs (or more damping?).

The bike in general feels hard & skippy on the front end, particularly over bumps in corners.

Would appreciate any advice, not sure where to start with getting this sorted.

Rich

What is the total fork travel? You should be roughly at the bottom of the top third of travel sag wise, I think that's rider sag, but don't quote me.

30-35mm of sag on the front I'd say, I'd try softer springs to get you in the right ballpark then if necessary more preload if your bottoming out, have you got compression and rebound adjustments?

Have you talked to a suspension nerd? From my understanding, you'd be wise to look at softer springs, with more pre-load, and potentially heavier weight oil (Although IMO 20w is already pretty heavy).

What does your rear suspension look like?
