Ever since gaining my interest in bikes, the one type of bike I have never gave much thought is cruisers, even though I've rode 3 differen't types (all 125's)
I've always had my eyes set on a sports style bike, bandit 600's, gixers etc..
I sat on my friends Suzuki SV 650 today.. to me personally felt very very heavy and couldn't get both feet flat on the floor had to only use one. (First time sitting on a big bike so maybe its because I'm not use to the change?)
Me being 5'4 as some others will know from previous posts and my 29" legs, it would be stupid of me not to give cruisers a proper thought.. the reason I have never gave them interest is because at the time it was mainly 125's.. so if it was a crappy 125 cruiser or a less crappy sport bike 125 it was that, but now that I'm old enough having a bigger engine cruiser appeals to me a lot with many added benifits for myself. But if BCF could give me some advice on a range of cruisers that could be restricted to the restrictions of 35kw/46.6bhp for A2 license.. I will be doing this myself also but as I say I have never bothered looking at this type of bike so I am not to familiar with the recommened ones
As I said in my previous post about what bike I was after, my price range is around £1500 but if the bike was worth it could save a little bit more.
I would use for pleasure riding and commuting to a place of work.
I would be looking to keep it for over a year. ____________________ Motorcycle riding can be really cozy. If you want to be a little closer to your passenger, brake a little quicker for the next stop.

Now now guys.
At heart, I am a sports bike type of guy..
And I know it seems like I can't make my mind up atm thats why I keep making new threads about completley different things but I'm just opening myself up to the wide range of bikes that would benifit me, don't want to be dropping a bandit at a set of trafic lights were as I guess a cruiser I will always be able to balance bike weight dead center with both feet on the ground ____________________ Motorcycle riding can be really cozy. Can agree I am! I'm terrible with making decisions as you can probably tell, over think a lot of things ____________________ Motorcycle riding can be really cozy. If you want to be a little closer to your passenger, brake a little quicker for the next stop. |

Didn't realize they was frowned upon.
My friend thinks he's the big man with his, no gloating or showing off, but you can tell he's like "yeah I ride a 650"
He also started on a cruiser so that might explain it ____________________ Motorcycle riding can be really cozy. If you want to be a little closer to your passenger, brake a little quicker for the next stop. |

OP doesn't know what the fuck they want, sort that shit out son!
You don't choose a cruiser if your deep down a sportsbike guy as you put it. You also don't choose a cruiser just because short arse and want to feel comfortable with handling the bike. You chose the kind of bike (maybe not a tall adventure trailie) that you want, and then you make it work for you.
An example though a shit one is, say if you wanted a Hayabusa, but it felt too tall? You can always go all American with it and have it lowered and a long low back end and modified seat to get it to fit you.. Wouldn't look good mind, but if it gets you onto the bike you wanted it's a price maybe worth paying?
Cruisers have their place, but you don't buy them for the low seat or because they don't look intimidating, they are for showing off, fitting in with like minded riders, or for hot countries where the roads and climate would make other types of bike suck.
They are sometimes also for fun, but so impractical and you need at least 130-150bhp in the big ones to make them interesting and have the go to match all the noise.

Wut?
29" inside leg is fine for a CBR600F. If you're struggling, you can buy a link lowering kit for about £20 delivered from China to drop it by one, two or three inches at the back, then drop the front forks through the yoke a bit if need be.
Which is sadly academic as it's not suitable for A2 crippling.
I'm baffled by how you can switch from sports to cruiser as though there's nothing in the middle. £1500 gets you a FZS600 (not an FZ6), bang on the limit for A2 restriction, and also manageable with our correctly sized legs, or easily lowered.
Your going to have to suck it up and get your A2 license on a biggish bike, after which you'll be just fine riding something like a Fazer.
InB4 Tef though, you ENT got a LICERNSE yet thoughe. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

With a bike like the big glitzy attention attracting Triumph, I think my daily ride/hoon to work would be a scabby mid size four stroke competition derived supermoto personally. But can you park a scuffed up moto in town and it be safe where you are? If so I reckon it's the way to go!
Arry, yeah you can look at cruisers that way and in the right places and clubs and bars I dare say you could easily use one to attract a leather hairy arsed companion.
It would be no different to if you wanted to have teenage friends and surround yourself with teenage boys and girls, you'd pick a funky tuned ped with a noisy pipe, flash paint and Neons, and pick evening spots like the local shopping centre or college car park or graffiti plastered local subways to hang out.
Cruisers though IMO attract real grown up women as much as they do faggots. Ride your Harley electraglide past the beach or through a seaside town with your designer shades on, designer facial hair, and boots, trousers and jacket, while playing the right sort of music, and it's about as good at attracting women as bikes get.
In contrast women that like full leather race suits and race replica sports bikes, are like the one percenters of the female attraction to biking.
All generalisations above of course, but there always truth in rumours too! |

True, and both wouldn't be what I'm aiming for when I choose a motorcycle type.

Back to the peacock feathers.
The queer jibes are just a bit of fun. What I don't like about the cruiser side of biking is the LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME side of it all. And all the blubblubblublub brap brap brap brap blubblublub oh look I just HAVE to rev my bike so every can LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME stuff that goes with it.
They, all of them, can go fuck themselves. |
