Track day,
first time so won't be riding that hard...
CBR600 F3.
Rear tire had a puncture a few months ago, silly string repair has held up a champ (can barely find it on the tire).
Track day in a few weeks, tire has loads of life left in it but is it a bad idea to take it out on the track as such? Its well within the center 1/3 on the tire (pretty central).

I cannot find anything mentioned in the track day blerb.

Thoughts much appreciated.

Best regards

Same here, as long as it's a proper repair plugged from the inside you'll be fine.

It's the sticky string type stuff that you push into the hole. When you pull the insertion tool out it should mushroom up on the inside of the tyre.

I would not worry about it Thumbs Up

Its exactly that type of one.
Most of the string is in there and due to its consistency its no doubt knotted up and stuck together.

Have used them for a fair while, on cars and bikes etc.

Will go for it if the event organizers allow it (although its not mentioned anywhere in the track day blerb etc).

Much appreciation for the input peoples.

Best regards

I doubt anyone would advise it, but I doubt many people will tell you that you have lost your mind either!

It is worth considering that there will be far more heat and forces going through that tyre than on the road, it clearly isn't the best idea to expose and already damaged tyre to those sort of conditions.

But you know this already right?

If it will play on your mind enough to spoil your day, then get a new tyre on there, you can always put the current tyre back on at a later date for road use.

It would play on my mind, so that is what I would do!

I've maxed my bike out with a plug that took a minute to fit. I'd not worry at all.

FFS Blue_SV650S...
Its back on my mind now.

New tire it is then Rolling Eyes

Cheers for the input, its not going to cost anything in the long run keeping the old one and putting it back on (can change myself) so it's a moot point in the bigger picture.

Just have to try fit it in next week... Rolling Eyes

5 people say don't worry it will be fine but you listen to the single opinion from the Drama Llama?

Tyre is constructed from many many layers of ply and steel belts. Something has passed between these and put a very small hole in the rubber. Structural integrity will not be compromised at all so why change it?

Why did you not "wrung it harder"?

If that was the case, then surely it has simply proven my point? i.e. He raised the post meaning he had a seed of doubt. I stated that if his seed of doubt germinates on the day, then it could spoil his fun; therefore he should swap it out!

He evidently didn't ...
