 Posted: 17:41 - 26 May 2016 Post subject: Looking for advice on a 125cc bike for 6"3 18yr |
 |
|
Hey guys.
I'm 18/19 years old, 6ft 3 and looking for a new 125cc bike, however i've found it difficult to find a decent fitting bike and one where I don't look look too tall for it.
A friend said the CBF 125 may do fine.
I'm having trouble as i'm not really looking for a trail bike as a few friends have recommended.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks! |

Second hand is better than new when buying a 125. |

I'm 6'3" & long in leg.
Trailies tall seats are a misconception. Seats only that far from the floor when they are parked. & reason its that tall is to accommodate the soft long travel suspension. If you are a larger chap, & I'm not that hefty for my height at 13stone, that seat comes down a heck of a long way once you plonk your arse on it.
Meanwhile... while the seat might be a long way off the floor... so too tend to be the foot-pegs.... I have a 34" inside leg, and distance twixt bum and peg can be excrusiating! You're also usually perched up close to the wide handle-bars, so all told the 'erganomics' of the things can be rather perverse.
Sports-bikes? Similarly perverse, but riding position is deliberately 'scruched',and with foot-pegs set further to stern, they 'may' some-times not be as 'scrunched' or uncomfortable as they look.
BUT, short anwer to the question is the reglation Learer-Commuter; Yamaha YBR125, Honda CBF125, the ubiqueteouse old Cg125 and thier ilk, 'One-Size-fits-all'.
Neutral erganomics; footpegs are slightly ahead of bum on saddle, so your leg isn't folded double at the knee, its like sitting n a arm chair, mild bend of knee accounts for any difference in leg-length.
Sat upright, good for visability and both slow speed and middle speed 'control', arms fall to the bars, a moderate bend atthe elbow accounting for differences in size.
Sod what you THNK you look like on the thing... no one but you gves a dam, and few of 'em, especially the ones you hoe are watching where you are going when they try jumping out of junctions in-front of you, will even LOOK at you! Let alone be considerng how cool/fashionable you look!
If they think anything, it'll likely be "Damned Idiot! - Why don't they get a car, like normal people.. must be MAD to ride one of them things!"
And regulation Learner/Commuter? Actually has a sort of utilitarian 'cool' it it. It's unpretentious; its not trying to be anything its not; they are cheap, they hold their value well, they are usually cheaper to insure, and maintain; they are just as 'fast' where there are speed limits, and bugger all slower, in a world of slow bikes, where you might find the small difference.
Resultant 'look' is 'smart'.. the considered sensible choice, putting practicality over percieved (lack of) performance and atheistic affectation. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

I'm 6'3" and my lads even taller at 6/6 so we know how most 125s
feel so weeny but these bikes were made for dem hairy japanese bastards so unless you get a varadero or surgery, live with it.
I rode my other lads 125 the other day and intially it felt ludicrously small, but I soon got used to it and was hacking it about quite happily
Just get on and ride the fecker ____________________ bikers smell of wee |
