Doing CBT on your own bike

Hi,

my mother is 4'11" and is wanting to do her CBT as you can guess it is quite difficult trying to find a bike that she can ride comfortably and most of the centres bikes are too big.

I know a lot of centres allow you to ride your own bike for your CBT but I was just wondering if you would have to have your bike insured for this or would it be covered under the centres insurance. As I would be able to ride it to the centre and back.

Also does anyone know of some very low seat height scooters around 760mm or lower. 125 preferred but would get a 50 if need be.

You would have to be insured yourself. I did my CBT (second time round - I took too long to sit my test!) on my own bike but forgot to bring the right insurance documents with me, as a result I had to sit the first half of the road stuff on a dire wee CG125 until we could stop by my house and I could get the right paperwork.

You need to have it insured under your own policy.

You have to find a way of getting it there without riding it, and getting it back if you don't get the certificate.

Yup it needs to be insured by your good self.. Obviously it also needs to be Taxed and MOT'd (if older than 3 years).

Quite a few Riding Schools use SR125's which are very low in the seat height.

You'd have to make sure the bike was 100% road worthy yourself as the centre will only have insurance for their own bikes. It can be riden home if the CBT is given but not riden there as that's riding without a license and thus without insurance. Could well be worth talking to the school and seeing if she can go in there and try their bikes and see if she can sit on one. Thumbs Up
