Lovely little thing, you've got there. One of my dream motorcycles, to be honest. Smile

Mate just sold his NC to fund his racing, made profit even after a lot of fettling. Claims he never gelled with it but having watched him lap cadwell and deck everything at the bottom of the mountain i can't see the issue Laughing then again he also owns a KR1S which is just as powerful and much lighter.

When you get past your 47bhp limit remember to change the carbs to UK spec jetting while they are off.

Yeah ive got another 12 months till i can do my test again... Sad But yeah id like to do the jetting and get a nice exhaust on it eventually, something like a JHA or an Ethos would be nice <3.... could then jet it to suit Thumbs Up

Anyways, got the subframe in the blaster, was just gonna do the rusty bits, but it all started flaking off so just thought i might aswell do the full thing...Got it painted with some Galvanise paint stuff, so should help protect it. Its dried alot greyer than it went on, but im not that fussed cause you cant really see it to be honest. How it turned out...

Started putting it back together 9 (sans rear footpegs) was a hell of alot easier when i realised the loom clips are different sizes... was thinking how on earth did this fit in here! haha. Managed to get it on without scuffing it to much

Looks a great little bike that's getting the love it needs, loved these when younger because of the single side rear.remember seeing a couple on eBay at around £500 that had been sat up,probably should of grabbed one as prices are getting steep.

Lovely bikes, always fancied a 400 but didnt get around until doing my test until my late 20s and after DAS they didnt make much sense. Occasionally still find myself looking at them on eBay though!

If you want to treat it to some nice Titanium bits this guy is great https://titanclassics.com/product-category/honda-titanium-parts/vfr400/

I've used him to replace a lot of the stock cheesium fittings on my SV.

Cheers guys Very Happy I think if i saw one for 500 quid id be drawing money out the machine asap haha.

I think even after i do my test i'll keep it, just derestrict it. Love them for the history behind them just as much as the bike itself, the fact theyre like a mini race bike with lights is just too cool Cool

Theres some seriously nice titanium stuff on there! bit out of my budget unfortuantely, well i suppose its not, but im not spending a tenner on a single bolt... i'll stick with stainless and wire brushing stuff Thumbs Up haha

Managed to get my seat cowl painted up, made a trip and got some spray cans. Just went for the closest i could find, didnt see the point in getting it made up. Had my strut brace to do for my car anyways so can use the red for that too..

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4515/38224412181_7b61ca7875_c.jpg837345C2-E67F-4E47-9863-D9B0346BB050_zpsk9tmyriy by roboff94, on Flickr

Got it rubbed down and primed

And then painted and polished up, decided to leave the red bits for another day, need to get some proper masking tape, however thinking it might be better to do it in vinyl now?..

Not too bad a finish for cans i dont think

The colour does look miles off but its just the lights in the garage, look alright outside. Just need to get some foam to make an ass stop pad thing...

Very nice bike mate.

My NC24's not in quite such good nick. Would love to turn her back into a roadbike but I have no skills in that department and to pay someone would be too much.

Swap? Laughing

Alright all,

Got a few more bits done on the VFR. Gave it a fluid change seeing as ive had it a year nearly, get it ready for summer and all that.

Started with a box of bits..

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4569/38224409161_3c88932309_c.jpgC2BDD6B9-FEA3-428C-9C5D-BA62B8CFE04C_zpszojxelog by roboff94, on Flickr

Got my self set up in the garage and got the fairings off, bit of a pain but gotta be done i guess

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4586/38224409001_f4b84769fb_c.jpg90477CB9-1FC0-4EDA-99DB-BF06CA3DF41E_zpsrsphvq4x by roboff94, on Flickr

Does look pretty cool without the lower fairings on, very Japanese Street Racer Very Happy Took it up the drive and started warming it up ready to drop the oil. However had a mini brain fart moment. Had it ticking over and it started spluttering abit... It cut out and i could not get it going! Was thinking has a coil or lead gone or something? Managed to flatten the battery trying to get it going haha. In the end turns out id run it all the way down to the reserve Neutral Switched the tap over and good as new, proper moronic moment haha.

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4482/26448008439_0d56ca6d8c_c.jpg94E18771-EACC-4078-8D20-F9BEBAE10B45_zps1yquhmxv by roboff94, on Flickr

Eventually managed to drop the oil and get a new filter on, theyre not the easiest to get to, but ive got the proper filter tool so not too bad.

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4536/38224412311_ee8c07d1ea_c.jpgEFCDFAF9-06EA-4CF5-B26F-074F4654904F_zps2jrdq6lv by roboff94, on Flickr

Made a little funnel out of a milk bottle to fill it back up, Blue Peter style! haha

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4545/38224409271_943e32733f_c.jpgE9FC4A4A-0351-465B-B3FE-E600ABBD434D_zpsfq6qt9vi by roboff94, on Flickr

Also changed the coolant to some Rock Oil waterless stuff, i couldnt tell if it had proper coolant in or just water? So thought i might aswell change it then i know its right. Think the tap water can fur stuff up inside and play havoc with the water pumps...

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4513/26448003289_e6821e80cb_c.jpg729C13AA-C013-4C25-8EA1-3F5F0F222575_zpsio7voku1 by roboff94, on Flickr

Noticed the exhaust is getting abit scabby around the flanges and the joints, something i'll look into swapping out in the future i think.

Got it all back together and it went for its MOT today Shocked Thankfully it passed! got a few advisories but nothing worrying, tiny bit of play in rear wheel bearings, slight notchy steering, which i cant really tell? and the last one was both front discs, it said ' Front Roller brake test indicates slight fluctuation of brake effort' which from what ive read means the lever pulses in and out slightly under braking? which ive also never noticed, something to look into i guess...

Next thing i wanna do it try make a race bike style 'toe protector' they look pretty cool and be fairly easy, ive got a nice piece of ally that should do the trick, something similar to this

But thats for another day... As always, let me know what you think!

Cheers

Alright all, how we doing?

Well seeing as Photobucket decided to ruin every forum post ever made ive been through and re up loaded all the photos with Flickr, so if anyone fancies a nosey theyre all back up again...

Had a good Summer with the VFR, havent done too much on it, been busy with the car really (Coilies, intakes, wheels, intercoolers all that malarky...) and the H100 after some muppet ran into me...

Tried to wrap my seat cowl in red vinyl to match the rest of the graphics, looked spot on til i went out on it and it all peeled off Sad must have been crap vinyl... Will give it another go cause it looked good, i did manage to get the crinkles out haha

Noticed it was absolutely minging underneath the front sprocket cover, so got that off and give it all a clean

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4561/38311272252_97854b1ce1_c.jpgUntitled by roboff94, on Flickr

Grim...

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4533/38311275862_a64fd0a0c7_c.jpgUntitled by roboff94, on Flickr

Then had a mini disaster, managed to snap a bolt putting it back in, managed to get it out with a pair of tweezers, so not like it was tight? not sure what happened really..

Offending item

Luckily you can still get them from Honda, so ordered a new one and get it back on and back together.

Been on a few good ride outs, still handles like a dream, got a new BT090 on the back but need to run that in, even got my knee down for the first time, such a weird feeling Very Happy haha

Mine was a bit rough, miss it though. Would like a road one if you want to swap for a 1999 R6. Laughing
