I've been riding just over 1 year, never had any experience before doing my CBT. Completed it on a scooter but bought a Yamaha XT 125X as my first bike and taught myself how to ride that.

I like the whole enduro/off road/dual sport type of bike, similar to my Yamaha but not sure whether to do my A2 or Direct Access. My job isn't far from my house so would only cover about 3 miles a day there and back. I wouldn't mind going for long rides on weekends to places like Scotland or Wales so covering about 400 miles or so.

I've seen the Honda CRF250L but just think its last power and seen some reviews saying the same and just would like something with abit more power. So just wondering if any of you guys have any recommendation.

Thanks

DAS everytime.

A2 is for people who're too young to do DAS.

You'll get to ride a 500cc commuter style bike when doing the training for your big boys license which'll give you an idea of riding something with more power than an XT125.

400 miles on a CRF450 might not be the most wonderfully fun thing to do. Laughing

+3 for DAS, then decide. It'll cost the same as A2, you'll be doing it on much the same size of bike. There's no point to A2, and I mean that at many levels.

Are you clear that you can't (legally) just go and buy yourself a bigger bike then sit your tests on it? You need to be accompanied by a certified DAS instructor, or a DVSA examiner in order to validate your provisionaL entitlement.
