Other than the jax teller cosplay society? And the brotherhood of the welded sprocket?

Use Google to find the ones that are internet aware. Hang about bike nights, bike cafes and roadside cafes that appear to have motorcycles hanging around outside and you'll begin to get in the know. Small spares shops, garages and dealerships will have flyers, posters and suchlike.

I've had cards for owners clubs and the like wedged in my seat parked at j&s, in town and similar, and just being about and not to dislikeable gets me invited into a few in-group rideouts that aren't part of anything so formal as a club.

I'm not sure what you have to do to get invited to prospect for an MC as such. Best avoided.

If you want to look like you're in an mc, hang around a Harley dealership in your best leather daddy getup.

- What 'sort' of club?
- Road-Race Club?
- Moto-Cross Club?
- Trials Club?
- Grasstrack Club?
- 'Other' Motorcycle Sport Club..
- Owner's Club? (For What make/model of bike?)
- Rally / Touring Club?
- Social Club?

All rather depends what you want to join a 'club' for?

The first rule of motorcycle club is :
'You DO NOT talk about Motorcycle Club!'

I always forget the second rule

I used to be in a local bike club for a while when I was last into bikes. We had two off road days organised, a track day at Mallory, and a few club nights at the bar with speakers like advanced riding instructors, and people that had done restos or special builds.

The best one was the bloke that built a 3litre Essex powered trike and then put a supercharger on it, then re-did it all again EFI and twin turbos.

The only bit I liked was the Friday night pub meets, as other groups of non club member bike owners would also go out and meet up for a couple of pints, instead of just the boring arrogant bastards in the club itself.

I eventually got pissed off with all the PMT wankers, and just went out riding on my own and had more fun too!

Dear person from Macedonia,

This is a genuine attempt to help you, not to show off, name drop, or to spread gossip or dissent amongst the (fairly small) ladies in the MC world.

In terms of the women found amongst the mens' clubs, well good luck with that. It's a fairly closed shop. Even I struggle to break into it Rolling Eyes

There are several womens MC clubs that you could consider researching, although the reception you might receive in approaching them online is likely to be "frosty" to say the least.

If you were in the UK, currently you could find members of the several, as there are a couple of "recognised" women's clubs. I am not sure of their current membership, as I don't really socialise in those circles these days. But I have met women from several such clubs, and in general they are perfectly approachable in person - charming, even, in most instances.

I honestly believe you would be better off approaching such in person, as anxiety and suspicion are no less of a thing in womens MC clubs than in the men's equivalents. Befriending women in these environments can be a time-consuming and lengthy process. Even in person I was treated with suspicion for quite a long time (although that might have been something to specifically do with who I was hanging around with - a heady combination of lust and naivete is my only valid excuse Shifty )

Almost all of them are sociable, outgoing and smart women. Very few suffer fools gladly. Many of them build, fix and service their own bikes and ride them with as much dedication and integrity as their male counterparts.

Women do, of course, ride together in other, less "formalised" groups, but I know even less about them than about the above.

Good luck!

P.S. You don't "need" a Harley. Laughing

I prefer an 1-2ft club made from ash with dimples and grooves for additional grip.

As if they wern't bad enough. Now the fucking hipsters have got hold of them. Along with tattoos, barber shops & big comedy lumberjack beards. I imagine they'd start their own brand of patch clubs too.. but that would require actual real life friends, not just those on Fakebook & Instagay.

Motorcycle clubs are for people, that don't actually like riding motorcycles. All they want to do is to chat with other people, that also actually don't like riding. Mostly about their heroic stunts on the way to the club and how they were once young and jumped over a river on their Triumph or did wheelies before it was cool, once did 200mph on their mate's Kawasaki CBR1000RR Hayabusa, and so on.

Or possibly this (potentially walloper-esque NSFW)

You say that, but it's implying that you and most others are always out probably on your own riding bikes so much of the time you don't have time or space to talk to anyone else or talk bikes?

There's quite a few people out there that at best are part time riders, who will never be hard core daily commuters, and are hangers on or nice day hooners, and don't live motorcycles for much of their space time.

I reckon there are plenty of people out there myself included that don't really like riding bikes much, don't need to be on them every day or have to feel they are necessary to have fun or enjoyment. There's plenty of people too that get their kicks from fixing, building, modding or fettling bikes and riding them sits way down the list of priorities.

There's lots of folk that like just having bikes, and like looking at them in their collections etc.

Why should people not be able to meet up with and talk to other like minded people about what they've been getting up to in the garage or workshop for the last 6months etc?
