Right, I'm trying to sort a stag do out. The stag has suggested some ideas for activities and a location for the piss up afterwards.

I've costed it all up and we're looking at £200 for a couple of activities, transport and hotel. There's going to be food and drinks on top of that.

That looks pretty expensive to me, how much do you think is reasonable to ask people for when doing a stag do?

£200 per person? Or all in? Who is paying?

Per person, each person paying for themselves.

It entirely depends on what activities, transport and hotel you have booked. £200 is a lot of money to ask for upfront and not including food/drink....

Personally I wouldn't pay that much. Consider dropping something or booking cheaper accommodation and transport.

I would bitch, moan and complain before stumping up the £200, but only if I was best man and had no choice. Otherwise I would not bother. That attitude also has a lot to do with the fact that I can't stand forced fun group activities.

Why not just a few beers down the pub and a curry after?

I'd have no problem stumping that up if it was for the right person. Expect only a hardcore group to attend though - close relatives bestest of besties etc.

Depends entirely on what you are doing and if you are familiar enough with everyone and can tell that £200 is going to be ok or too much for some people.

It's more a fact of how much things cost these days, a hotel room can easily be £100 for a night inc breakfast and then activities (go karts etc) are going to be best part of £50 each.

You are stuck between a rock and a hard place, people don't want to pay as much as things actually cost.

In reality £200 is perfectly reasonable but as with anything you can do things cheaper - just not perhaps to the same level.

These abroad trips and the suchlike, costing £££, for stag-dos are really starting to take the piss now.

Once it starts costing more than a night out in town, getting bladdered and shaving off the groom's eyebrows, you really need to rethink your plans.

Ask around. See how many people say they'd be prepared to stump up £200 (before and drinking/eating) and then halve that number. That's how many might come.

I'd go at £200, that seems to be about right to me for a stag having been on 5-6 over the last few years.

It depends on and only on the group of people going. It needs to be an amount which will not make anyone feel uncomfortable and therefore not show up (since it's a celebration and about the people afterall).

This is easy if all the stags mates are from the same walk/stage of life, but if they span 10 years in age and geography and jobs are disparate then there will be very different levels they can justify. Do you know all the people going?

In terms of cost, doing anything much for £200 is going some if you plan to travel at all. I went to one a couple of years ago, which was a rented minibus (£20), two nights in blackpool (£70), an afternoons karting (£50), couple of meals out (£50) and two nights on the piss (£100). I forget the total cost but it was £250+ when all said and done. Grear fun and wouldn't have missed it for the world, but due to being a certain age, my partner and I attended 4 weddings, 3 stags and a hen between us in 12 months.....

I was the first in our group to get married

Had a day paintballing and a night out came to 50 quid each and that covered the stags (me) days as well

All my mates came out at night we had a 30 seater coach covered in 50 quid

But people who only came at night only paid 20

Drinks and kebabs at end of night were extra

Most of my mates had stag do's away so only had about ten of the group go with them and tjhe last was over 300 quid for a weekend

Mate went to Poland for his stag do, all arranged by his best man. Flying out on Friday, coming back on Sunday.
Best man sent out a block email advising everyone to book their own flights, hotel and to meet in a certain place at midday Friday, six weeks before the weekend. He'd booked his flights a couple of months earlier for £20, but by the time he bothered sending the email out the cheapest flights were £150 and hotels were a pig to find.
His plan consisted of zero activities and as a group of lads they were refused entry to half the bars they tried.
I didn't go, but everyone who did reckoned it was the worst stag do they'd been on.

Another mate went to Blackpool for his stag. Again it was the best mans idea as he'd not been to Blackpool and thought it would be a laugh. He's an idiot. There's nothing funny in Blackpool.

Another mate did one which involved mountain biking out into the welsh countryside and camping. Many attendees hadn't ridden a bike in years, and many had never camped. It was not universally loved.

Keep it simple, and make it fun for everyone.

From my experience of stag do's the following went down well:

clay pigeon shooting
go karting
paintball
mini moto (very funny)
comedy club
dog racing

other than that, as has already been said, keep it simple, and reasonably cheap Smile

I recently went to How Stean Gorge for mine.

We had 2 nights in the bunk barn thing, pretty much camping but indoors with a cooker, water and toilets.

We brought our own food the Friday and had a BBQ, Saturday we had breakfast, included, did Gorge walking as an activity, then got a mini bus into Harrogate for a night ooot (!), sunday, breakfast again included and went home.

We got the 2 nights, breakfasts and mini bus for about £110 each.

More recently, my friend went to Barcelona. The flights to that were £100 + alone. I didn't go just due to a lack of money but a lot did and they had a good time.

I'd suggest doing what we did, add a load of people to a facebook group, if they have it, and put suggestions up with estimated costs. You'll quickly find out who won't be arsed to come no matter what, and also get an idea of what your mates consider to be a reasonable price.

From the stag do`s I`ve been on, I would be thinking I got off lightly if they only cost me £200.
Food, taxi`s, much beer, entry fees, stuff = cheap at £200

A good stag party needs 3 things:

1 Alcohol (widely available).
2 Stripper (roly poly or similar, for maximum effect).
3 Cocaine (widely available).

Whilst these are all great fun on their own, it's best to mix any two for what is known as a 'gentlemen's cocktail'.

My favourite is to do a line off a hookers arse.

Be as wild as you like, it's all in good fun.

Cost: Around £100 per person.

I had 2 stag doo's one in Budapest and the other in Brighton for those who are local / couldn't make it or were not invited to Budapest. Both were fun in different ways.
