Hi
My. 2003 Aprilia rs 125 won't Rev over 5500 and struggles to do 50! Feels like it's hitting a limiter, it's a full power version.
You can Rev it when not in gear but as soon as you start to ride it it stops at 5500 rpm.
Any ideas?
Andy

If you're new to it, you're probably in the wrong gear.
Rev it to 6k and pull away, dont change gear until 11k, rinse and repeat.

If this dont work, your powervalve needs looking at.

Sounds more like fuel starvation to me than anything else. I'd be checking all the obvious stuff like the fuel tank breather, dirt water or sediment in the tank. And fuel lines, filters and then the carb for blocked jets or dirt.

Just ignore the useless previous post, as it won't be your riding style or the power Valve or any other similar bollocks.

Having owned one, I know full well that if you are in the wrong gear they wont rev up. He is probably riding it like a 4 stroke and it will just bog.

Or not letting it warm up, has it got oil in?

Yes it was warmed up and yes it has oil in it.
It's not down to my riding style either, it won't go over 5500 rpm it feels like it's hitting a limiter

Does it ride as normal up to the 5500rpm point?
Did it used to ride properly?
Have you recently done any work on the bike such as having the tank off and maybe inadvertently kinked a fuel hose putting it back on again?
