Not sure if this is the best place for this?
Anyways, a few bolts out the fairings on the VFR have gone walkies.... Anyone have any good places where they get them from? Theyre the larger dome headed variety, about 14mm across the head. Some of them have a little countersunk backing washer aswell. Found a couple on the net but wondered if anyone knew any i hadnt come across.
Ta!

I know you can find them elsewhere cheaper, but in my experience, it's much better to buy some high grade ones for fairings. This is due to them being in the elements and subject to corrosion. The last thing you want is for them to rot and cause your fairings to part company with your bike at high speed. Also everyone here knows how much of a pain they are to remove once they have seized and they try to rip your fairings apart when you try to remove one that wont budge.
My advice therefore is to buy some higher grade ones, not cheap but they last the distance.

Those wont be the right size, but those are the idea |

If the missing ones are dzus, you need to replace them with dzus, you can't screw a threaded bolt into a dzus backplate.
What VFR?
If it's a 3rd gen, there are three dzus fasteners attaching the bottom of the side fairing to the belly pan, a single threaded fastener attaching the back edge of the side fairing to the frame lug near your knee and a couple of those push to release plastic fasteners tacking the rest of the front edge together. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. My NC30 has a mixture of DZUZ, original bolts minus the rubber washers, random bolts with big steel washers, and roofing bolts
I too have seen the sets on ebay, been tempted but then scoffed at the price. I too would like some nice ones eventually. ____________________ '90 VFR750; '89 NC30; '95 DR650; '89 CD250U; ~'82 CG125; ~C90 |
