Hi all. sorry if wrong section !

Just got my first proper bike (upgraded from a CBR 125), up for my full bike test in a couple of weeks so looking forward to getting out on it.

Ended up with a 1996 GSX 750F Katana.

Paid around £1050 for it.

13,000 miles

Looked pretty good condition, fairings have been resprayed a nice black, looks to have been dropped on its right side before, no issue AFAIK small dent or scratch here and there.

I know NOTHING of bike mechanics so im hoping to learn some with this, its currently in the mechanics getting a full service, back wheel bearing? has gone and possible new battery and back tyre is wider than it should be but mechanic reckons it will be fine once i run it in a bit as its more or less new otherwise everything seems good bar a screw missing here or there.

Plans are

wash and polish
new levers
new wing mirrors (may go for bar end mirrors)
replace and clean screws/rust/corrision around metal and bars ect
red rim tape
some suzuki decals
nice slip on or stubby
seat cowl
tail tidy
is it possible to lower handlebars?

in future i would love to do a facelift mod
definitely would like to do a tail end to the nicer slimmer version think its called a pre 98 ?

is this something i could do easily

any advice would be great as i havnt a clue how im going to do any of it lol.

thanks alot.

Added some pictures, unwashed and some bird crap on it haha sorry
will get some better pictures when i get it back next week.

As this is your first big bike and you know 'NOTHING of bike mechanics'.

I would suggest you just ride it as it is learn how to fix it when it breaks and finally upgrade when you get bored.

Also I would recommend you buy a Haynes manual rather than rim tape and any other of the bolt on tat you have planned.

Enjoy.

Yeah pretty much what I was about to post. Enjoy the bike as it is. It is not a high tech sports bike and will never set the world on fire but being basically a faired Bandit it'll be a good solid (and not exactly slow) first big bike. Keep it well maintained and standard and you'll get good resale value when you come to inevitably want something different in the future.

Ah yes i was planning yo get a manual and that anyway. I know its not a super sport but its a nice sports tourer and if its reliable id like to keep it maybe do some traveling and get a super sport for playing around on.

Doesnt mean i cant have it look nice Smile and yeah i posted about it ages ago but i have actually just got it now so pretty happy.
