Hello, I have recently bought my lad a 2008 Yamaha DT50X for him to learn on, he is not 16 for a year, but he can ride it locally. It is equipped with supermoto style tyres, I want to swap these for more off-road types until he uses it on the road. The rear is 130/70-17 and the front is 100/80-17. I cannot find any off road style tyres in these sizes, but I am sure I can fit a different height tyre. The problem is that I know nothing about this, can anyone help with advising me? Thanks, Matthew

they are road size wheels.. and dont take off road rubber cos they don`t make them in those sizes ...you need off road size wheels to fit off road tires on .. probably more expense than its worth really..

The rear is pretty easy, you'll find lots of dual sport tyres in those sizes, which will cope well enough with the sort of off-roading you'd hope to do on a 50cc.

Front seems trickier, off roaders tend to have bigger front wheel diameters. On a 50cc I'd risk a rear tyre and take a gamble on something like this:
