past a corsa into a blue transit.

car a few infront slammed brakes on as he almost missed his turning causing everyone else to do the same.. fairly heavy traffic, couldnt see any brake lights ahead due to a massive transit which somehow managed to avoid ploughing into the back of him, the car infront had much better brakes than i did and as i casually locked up the rear wheel leaving a nice black trail down the middle of the road it all seemed good!

i was going straight.. sort of.. then the back end kicked out and shot me into a van.

bike damage:
brake lever x2
mirror x1
fairing x2
front brake wont keep pressure
front forks twisted
screen fucked
exhaust scraped
clutch cover scraped.

damage to me:
arm is refusing to play ball, chest is somewhat painful and neck is sore, not yet been to a&e but i shall.

pics to follow soon.

"i wont need my helmet cam im only going down the road"

Out of curiosity, how many times have you come off your bike, and how many of those (if more than once) were with a pillion?

You could be carefuller.

You chose to ride that close to a vehicle that blocked your view of the road ahead. Nobody forced you to unsight yourself.

Lesson learned, I hope?

fo sho, we had just pulled onto the road about 100 meters in, people usually accelerate up to the 50 limit, this time they sort of did and then suddenly stopped.

lesson learned the hard way, car drivers are indecisive eejits and tarmac hurts!

To be fair. I've done bikesafe and usually ride extremely carefully/defensively with loads of space in front of me etc. But I came off a roundabout today and for the first time in bloody ages nearly rear ended a car (locked the front but Sam-ABS™ saved the day) that slammed its brakes on to turn left about 20 yards from the roundabout without indicating. Wouldn't have been a problem if I'd left more space.

There is a point here I promise. Oh yeah...it's that mistakes happen. Even if you're a careful/boring person like me.

Ichy died, no 't'.

You weren't tailgating a van down a straight, on gravel (see Spill Counter excuse), with a pillion (you even have to say "longer braking distance" to get your license) .

To make one mistake may be regarded as a misfortune, etc.

Also forgot the "didn't stomp really hard on the rear brake"; and of course it seemed to not only be the car that had 'far better' brakes, but the massive transit van too!

i headbutted my screen as she was paying no attention and ended up on my back with me laying on the tank when id jammed the brakes on.

i agree i should have sat back further instead of going by the fact everyone was accelerating to 50 + like they normally do.

damn people deviating from lifes rules!
