When I bough my Hornet I said to myself... well the winter will suck but the summer will make up for that.
Of course I forgot the little detail that this is not Spain, this is UK, and the summer, quite often is as wet as the winter. And the wind is really bad sometimes too.

So I am wondering if a sport tourer would make more sense than my naked as an all year/all rounder. Does it make a difference?

Would a windscreen make any difference on my hornet? I have no idea but I have a feeling that it wont.

I was thinking about a GSX1250FA, is there any other bike I should consider?

Keep the Hornet and spend a grand on a Diversion 900, or even a Deauville or, for a bit more, Trophy 900/1200. That's what I've been doing for the past 6 years and it keeps me on the road all year.

You're on a bike, no screen in the world will stop you getting wet Rolling Eyes

Tourers etc just stop wind blast on you helping reduce fatigue.

Oh, it's the Season, isn't it? Rolling Eyes

To be fair, I'm currently winding up Gumtree sellers by telling them that I'm looking for an Autumn bargain. Whistle

I enjoy riding in the rain, if I didn't I guess I'd be riding like once or twice a year. A helmet with a good pinlock, tyres that give you confidence, gear that keeps you warm and dry and plenty of experience makes it a whole lot easier to go about your business when the heavens open. For the most part the worst type of road I encounter is a major A road / dual carriageway at 40mph in any conditions so cannot compare if you're using NSL / motorways in the rain with lorry spray etc. On the whole I don't really see rain as an issue unless as above; tyres and gear need changing.

Wind is a pain in the arse. There's been threads before (and I'm sure I've made at least one) asking how to tackle the wind; relax your grip on the bars and grip the tank, other than that it's a smile and wave game until you get to your destination. I'm aware it's not nice and some days when the wind is predicted at 40mph etc and all hell is breaking loose I've chosen to use other methods of transport just because a lightweight tiddler in those winds is a biatch to control. I rode in some light wind (in comparison to what I've ridden in before) and the bike just spat its dummy out, you notice the difference. I probably looked like a complete turd tucking in like "haha, omg M8 125cc racebike init" as I rode past an opening between two buildings on my way home but I've gone past it before and ended up on the central line. You get to know the regular spots on the commute after a while. But yeah, riding in high winds isn't pleasant and again at times I refuse to do so.
