1999 cbr600f4 fx, fuel pump dead, new one en route from Israel.

I know carbs work fine with fuel pump bypassed and relying on gravity feed so long as fuel level is sufficient.

But what about high speeds? I mean on my private racetrack of course.

The fuel pump on my ZZR600 has been bypassed and there is no noticeable difference whatsoever.

My Africa Twin had the same fuel pump as the CBR.

On a few occasions I got home using gravity and a topped up tank. It is fine until you try to do motorway speeds when the bike would cut out due to fuel starvation just as you passed a lorry.

As soon as you pull over the bike will start again. I managed the 50 miles home from work a few times after a pump failure. Gave up on the Honda/Mistubishi pumps, had a Mikuni vacuum pump for a while before getting a reliable Facet pump.

Confirming suspicions with the above posts. I'm going oem route as I think the original had worked for 33k over 16 years before leaking, which is fair play to Mitsubishi.

I did try the eBay clone for about a tenner, which lasted about 6 weeks before giving up. And it was also very noisy, as was the free of charge replacement.

Buy cheap buy twice Sad
