On brown leather boots? Eh?

Pretty much any oil or grease based gloop to soak into the scuffed area, then brown polish on top. I wouldn't over-think it.

Who advised you not to and did they give any reason why?
From the listing they're just brown leather boots with no magical qualities, so I'd have to say that brown boot polish does seem to fit the bill.

Altberg's Ledergris comes in brown. It's kept my walking boots supple for as long as I can remember, and the black variant is the product of choice on my motorcycle boots.

Nikwax cream, the one with the applicator on the bottle. The stuff stinks, a bit like Brasso weirdly, but does the job. If there are any suedey bits it will turn them smooth and shiny though.

I've never cleaned, polished, or wasted money on that waterproof shite for my boots I wear them every day and they are still 100% waterproof/just as comfy as they were when new.

Alpinestar web goretex.

That'll be because the goretex is keeping your feet dry rather than the leather.

i applied some Altberg's Leder Gris last night on my boots and it has worked wonders.

Most of the scuffs/scrapes have seemingly disappeared (at least they're not that noticeable anymore ) and the boots look a lot smarter. I recon 1 application a week of this stuff would see these boots out for a few years yet
