Hey guys, I'm sure many of you seen this video already, but thought it might be helpful to some. Really informative, for someone that doesn't have much knowledge on bikes and looking for the first one. Exclamation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlUzoUpWWdE
P.S. I noticed this is marked as spam, it's not even my video, just found it helpful. If this sort of stuff is not allowed here, sorry, please remove it in that case Embarassed

Sounds plausible considering its a 4 year old channel with only a few videos.

New accounts posting youtube links tend to set the Spam alarm bells ringing Razz.

He failed to perform a vital check though; make sure its not a cruiser Wink.

Its not spam Rolling Eyes

Actually really helpful, had I watched something like this I might have not bought a bike with a sticky throttle, slack chain, leaking fork seals, blowing exhaust, and an iffy clutch that had previously been written off...

It was dark and I was green Laughing

"You're gonna wanna check right here, for the throttle." [points at clutch cable]

"These heads" [points at bottom of barrel]

"When the chain gets hot, it stretches. From what I understand, they're not very cheap." [You have a singular understanding]

"Never buy on excitement." [points at cruiser]

It's not an unreasonable checklist for that bike (a carb-fed drum braked chrome piped cruiser with a choke that increases the idle speed), but he doesn't half make a meal of it. That's like 30 minutes of video on stuff you can check in 5 minutes.

Forgets:
Check that the engine is cold.
Engine smoke.
Check the headstock bearings.

Please be advised that if you're buying from me, you can fill in your 180 point checklist if you like, but I have no interest at all in hearing what you think you've found. Just say a number.

It's very American and Cruiser centric. And the presenter is dull.

I think I'd have to laugh if someone turned up with a clipboard and a ten-page form, and proceeded to spend 30-40 minutes poking and prodding every bolt and component.

I've just realised - he didn't check if the sprocket was welded on. Wink

Also worth checking if the spark plugs have ever been changed...

He also forgot to establish if it had been parked in a wall...

Maybe he was worried that he'd get head-butt across a car park for asking too many questions?
