We buy ours from the local pound shops.
Re nets, I think it depends on the shape/style of your bike, and what you are hoping to carry? ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

Well, we're going to our first rally this weekend and it's to attach the tent, airbed and beers (of course)!!! To my wee NS125R might I add!!!!
We were thinking of securing it with plenty bungees and then a bungee net for added security - what do you think? ____________________ I have an asshole tolerance level of -10

Er FA, not trying to cause offence or anything, but if you're both going, and neither of you has a full license, and you only have the one bike - HOW?
PS and which rally? ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

No offence taken, we're taking the bike and the car, I'm taking the bike down and Eddie's taking the bike back on Sunday night. This sharing a bike malarchy is crap!!!
We're going to the Island Invasion Rally at Rothesay. But we're going to leave the car at this side of the ferry - no point paying for two vehicles!! And Eddie's going pillion with one of the other guy's we're heading down there with once we get over on the ferry! The other guy's we're going with have quite a lot of luggage, that's why he's not going pillion the whole journey!
We were thinking about just taking the car, but it is a bike rally, so, we decided to take the bike too!!!! So in short the reason we're filling the bike up and not the car, is the car's getting left in a car park!! ____________________ I have an asshole tolerance level of -10

Fair enough, I was just curious!
Have you thought about panniers? I just recently got a set for my bike and I'm amazed how much stuff I can carry around now - I can go shopping on my bike! Yay! A decent but basic set shouldn't set you back more than about £40-£50, and if you're careful they should last for years.
Note though - check how you've loaded them, mine are soft and although I've used them about 5-6 times with no problem, coming back from BDB one of them was just rubbing on my back tyre and wore a small hole - luckily only in the outer skin & repairable but even so my other half has made me a set of stainless pannier-protectors which hook on each time I use them from now on..... ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

Nope, we don't have Wilkinsons up here as far as I'm aware, and I've checked two of my local camping shops and they don't do them!!
Will have a look this evening in the likes of Poundstretchers, etc, hopefully they will stock them! ____________________ I have an asshole tolerance level of -10

Here's hoping you have a good weekend then FA.
Looking forward to hearing about your rally experience next week - oh and by the way DON'T let anyone know you are rally virgins, the consequences could be disasterous......

Also minor point: I know its expensive to buy ALL your alcohol across the bar at rallies, and many people do take their own, but some organisers are not thrilled at people importing their own beer in too blatant a fashion. So use discretion about bringing booze in.
The point of some rallies is that the organisers might like to make a bit of profit out of the bar, and without wishing to go into the politics of being seen to support certain clubs and/or rallies, its often the only profit they make. So if everyone takes their own beer, regardless of whether the organisers have their own bar, or whether its in a pub, and hence the landlord is making the profit, its not going to be very profitable all round, and the organisers are going to think twice about organising another rally, and the publican is going to think twice about letting his pub be used if everyone drinks their own.
Obviously, there are many who DO, and the reasons for doing so are varied ... but just remember ... sometimes it the only profit the organisers make: that which you spend over their bar. ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

Nets are far, far better than bungies
Also, when loading a 125 and riding, be careful. You probably know this already but it's very easy to miscalculate and forget just how much extra weight will affect the handling as you go into a corner ____________________ I'm immortal. Well, so far. |

hellkat: cheers for the tip hon!!
Tarmacsurfer: It's not going to be loaded up too much anyway, but thanks for the tip, it's purely going to be airbed, tent and some beers! I'll have a change of clothes on in my backpack!! But thanks for the tip, this will be my first time riding with a load, so, I wasn't aware it would affect the handling that much!! ____________________ I have an asshole tolerance level of -10

Seen plenty of bungies for sale at local Sunday market and car boot markets. Usually on the auto parts stands.
Cargo nets about £5 from dealers (Motax packages) or about 50p-£1 loose from auto jumble
