What has happened to the existing one? Cut or butchered by a previous owner, burnt out in a fire/accident? Unexplained electrical problems?

It may be possible to get a 2nd hand one from a breakers.

There is a guy called Ferrett who advertises in Classic Motircycle Mechanics that may be able to help if you just have a problem.

Or if you fancy a go yourself, strip the bike down and splice in new wires and tape it back up again.

Cheers
Rob

Hi

Wiring looms new are sometimes not that expensive from the original maker. Fitting them is also not too difficult if you are just taking one off and fitting the new one at the same time.

It you really want to pay an auto electrician then be aware that good ones are rare and thus likely to chargea fair amount of money, and fitting a new loom is some way below their abilities.

What is the problem with the electrics at the moment?

All the best

Keith

Hi

My guess would be the regulator / rectifier unit is gone, or possibly the alternator stator. Not that cheap, but neither would be fixed by a new loom.

It should be easy for a decent auto electrician to poke around with a multimeter and check the actual wiring.

All the best
