So I seem to be getting this light now and then. Not always. It's blinks a few times and then I turn of the engine and restart it. Light's gone. Anyone own this bike and could advise/suggest something. I have the Honda Haynes manual for this bike but I think it suggsts taking it to Honda as they have a machine that could read it.

Cheers Thumbs Up

So, it's actually FI, not F1, FI standing for Fuel Injection. I believe it flashes a number of times to indicate roughly what the problem is too, so count the flashes. It's likely to be something like four flashes, a pause, then four flashes, then a pause etc. To me, this would indicate fault code 4, and so on.

The trouble is the last time the F1 or FI light appeared was a couple months ago. So i now need to wait for it to appear again and then count the flashes. I was thinking of just putting some Blu Tak on the dash where the FI light is. So annoying! Very Happy

The haynes manual actually covers the fuel injection system and how to trouble shoot fault codes. Its in the manual with a list of codes. Bridging a connector near the battery will show up the error codes for you

OK, it's happened again today. Sad
Nine flashes and then a second or so pause, then nine flashes again and then pause and so on.
I turned off the engine and cranked her up again and then flashes gone. No FI light all the way to a 12 mile commute.

Doh, I always thought it stood for Fault Indicator. You live and learn.

Might just have a look at the fuel injection system in the haynes manual and see if it can be overhauled/cleaned.

I thought it does as well. One of my Goldwings had it flash when the speedo sensor died. Nothing to do with fuel injection.

9 blinks is the IAT sensor. (Intake air temperature) I have the offical workshop manual.

It's a sensor that integrated inside the ecu throttle body, so the only way to fix is replace with another. There are no wires as it's an all in one unit

I'm actually thinking about opening up the whole throttle body and giving it a good clean with carb cleaner. Have the haynes so it might help.
There maybe some crud inside the throttle body could be causing the sensor to give off some incorrect readings.

No just don't its a sealed unit and not designed to be taken apart as its all set at the factory. Trust me your mess it up and render your bike useless.

I'm looking at the ones from Poland. Not a bad price considering how much saving is made.

Just a bit scared ordering from Poland.

Astroscope, how has the story ended?

I have 2011 S-Wing with a similar problem, and looking forward to fix it.
FI indicator lights up after couple mins of riding, after I stop it blinks nine times and repeats. No other symptoms occured.

I do not suppose you have a copy of the workshop manual
