 |
|
Hi folks,
I've got some cash saved for a new 2-piece suit. I'm riding everyday, on average 60 miles a day, doing maybe a couple of +150 miles trips a month and planning to do a 8-9 track days a year. Mainly riding in the 'country', B-roads are my natural habitat, but also doing quite a bit of daily city riding and a little bit of motorways.
Never owned a leather suit before. I'm looking for a high level of protection, but with all year usability and enough comfort for touring. Around £800-£900 to spend.
Now - I can't afford both (leathers and textiles) So which in your view would be a better choice? I mean, I would prefer a decent 2-piece leather suite such as Dainese aero or laguna evo or RST pro series for that 'extra level' of protection and then use a rain suit on top for the wet days, but I'm slightly concerned about the ergonomics and comfort of the leathers for the everyday commuting, touring or short strolls.
What do you guys and gals think, and how many of you wear leathers on everyday rides? ...and what leathers do you think would offer the best fit for touring with good safety?
Wouldn't buying a good quality 2-piece textile and renting the leathers for the track days instead, be a more sensible option?
Thanks in advance for some good thoughts and safe riding!
Cheers! Monkey on wheels. ____________________ CBT - 17/07/10

What one did you go for in the end? I was damn close to buying the safety jacket when ebay presented me a goretex leather instead. |
These in black...

A big part of it was the fit, I have never had any jacket fit that well. I'm tall and stocky, I have a bit of a belly but am not massive. Most jackets I have to get anywhere between XL-3XL to fit my length/shoulders, however this ALWAYS means it is huge around my gut, this isn't. The girl in the shop said they are designed for Scandinavians who are taller and generally not as lardy as us.
Trousers where long too
So if you are short of fat they might not be for you.
The jacket build quality is excellent it has lots of nifty features such as removable storm collar (which actually works) and Magnetic buttons (which are amazing and should be used everywhere).
It also has a zip on hi vest which is effect in the sense it is removed with minimal fuss and no obvious signs anything is missing AND it isn't noticeable when you have it on.
It is easy to put on, I was looking at a few other jackets including a Rukka one, the Rukka one was a pain to get into, so many things to zip and button This is alot simpler, the vents work and do not leak too.
See if you can get your hands on one, IMO you can really feel the quality of how it is put together. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.
Skudd:- Perhaps she just thinks you are a window licker and is being nice just in case she becomes another Jill Dando.
WANTED:- Fujinon (Fuji) M42 (Screw on) lenses, let me know if you have anything. |
