Big traders are bound to get a little negative feedback even if it is just from punters who ordered the wrong item and it does not fit etc but what is the level of feedback that will stop you ordering? I draw the line at 99.4%.

I look at the neg feedback and see what they're saying, if lots of people are having the same problem then avoid, if it's just a few unhappy buyers (for no particular reason or something that doesn't affect you) you're probably fine.

Same as M.C said; I tend to view the negative feedback (for big or small sellers) and see what it actually says. Half the time it seems to be people "reviewing" the item and nothing to do with the actual quality of the product or service Laughing.

Remember I sold a game a few years ago in perfect condition and got negative feedback because "My son said the game was too short - he completed it in a day!" Rolling Eyes.

I've had one negative feedback in 12 months, and it's knocked me to 98.1. I used to put stuff on every two weeks for my dad (as he's not tech--literate). Buyer didn't pay, gave him ample time, etc. Cancelled the sale and he managed to give me bad feedback.

Now looking at it, my score looks crap!

I check the comments, half of negative feedbackers are illiterate mongs. They buy stuff from China then leave negative feedback when customs hang onto their goods for a while.

Stuff I watch out for is ingorant attitude from the seller or that they ignore comms.

I agree with all of the above, I was trying to buy a cheap 2.4 AH or so power block to charge a phone and tablet but became overwhelmed with the BS feedback some sellers were getting. IMHO the product being sold as well as the seller should get review/feedback on Ebay when a seller is proffering hundreds of items.

Negative feedback from angry mongs and a constructive, measured response from the seller actually inclines me towards them. We see it often enough here. Wink

if I need something and its the only one available I will risk it

gave bad feedback for a battery that was obviously the wrong one for a bike as was too big to fit

contacted the seller who at first told me it was right and secondly I was wrong it will fit

seller then contacted me a fortnight later to arrange collection of battery but I would have to pay Twisted Evil

another two weeks and I had a message moaning about feedback until I pointed out that I had the battery stil as no one had come to collect it

got full refund for changing the feedback

All within context. If the feedback relates to poor service or items actually being sh*te then I may move on however if its mong's being mong's I'll overlook it and if it is rebutted in a thought out, rational fashion it can also help sway me.
Really narks me that items can't be reviewed on ebay (although I'm sure I saw something along those lines but it's not very prevalent).

And then you reported the seller for feedback extortion?

As above. I generally read the feedback to see what the problem was.

I've only left one negative recently for an item that was patently misdescribed.

I pointed it out to them, demanded and got a refund. I'd just have left it at that if I hadn't noticed they still had it up using the same description and picture.

I remember my dad throwing a tantrum once over bad feedback. He'd sold one of my mums handbags with a description that said "ice blue"* as the colour a few times.

Seller received, had a meltdown and left feedback with much caps. Item was not white. This was 10+ years ago and I don't think you could appeal feedback then.

*blokes read "very light blue"

Every year I get one person who complains that an item is too expensive or took more than 24 hours to be delivered or something daft and it knocks me down from 100 to 99.7 and it sits there for 12 months. I can never have 100 for more than a few weeks before someone does it again, I'm sure it's on purpose.

Couldn't be arsed with ebay, it's full of manipulation in search results and a bullshit system heavily biased towards buyers.

Amazon is not much better to be fair, not even going in to that shit.

Plenty of mong buyers out there. I read the feedback personally. If the seller is prepared to open a dialogue then it wouldn't out me off.

I had a buyer Neg me because Royal Mail lost the item. Rolling Eyes

I don't really use ebay anymore now, I was once a "power seller" and sold hundreds of games a week

in reality I was more of an avid collector of video games, and like a lot of sellers would buy entire collections online and offline to get hold of elusive titles rather than a trader

anyways, I remember one seller whom I trusted had hundreds of negs

short version, he sold regional games, videos and dvd's worldwide and a lot of amercian buyers gave neg feedback cos they couldn't get PAL to playback on their NTSC sets, even though he very clearly stated the regional issues on all his sales

I think I was the angel of death, cos around 1or2% of my buyers would claim to have been recently bereaved hence no payment

I'd love to see someone re-think eBay and launch a better site all round. They haven't changed their design much in 10+ years. They've got worse and worse actually.

Anyone every done Amazon FBA? Jesus christ, I have never encountered such incompetence in my ENTIRE life. They are beyond retarded.

The total morons you have to deal with is unreal.

Someone wants a refund because the reflective stickers he bought are not reflective and one tore when he tried to apply it.

I see this as he ripped it because he put it in the wrong place and tried to get it off.

I said i'd send another, even though he broke it, he said no, i offeed a 75 p refund, yet to get a reply but i'm sure it'll be a neg, despite having done nothing wrong.

Past negs are one for 2 led sidelight bulbs, no email just a feedback saying 'total garbage' no replay to message asking what was wrong.

'Arrived 4 days late' despite posting it the day of purchase and email telling him so.

Another 'Not arrived' again, no email asking where it is.

People are a nightmare, no contact to say something wrong doesn't give sellers a chance to sort stuff.

A couple of neutrals i've had, 'smaller than expected' even though the size in mm is posted on the listing.

'Expensive for what it is' for a sticker costing £1.45 inc postage. Rolling Eyes

I got negative feedback after selling a camera from this absolute cunt because:

A) The camera didn't work

B) Did not include accessories.

I never advertised the camera with any accessories and the camera worked perfectly fine before sending. She wanted me to refund the money before sending it back, the cheeky cow.

A few days after she listed the item for sale, fully functioning! Evil or Very Mad

This is why I will never use Ebay / Amazon again as a seller, rather spend the time promoting my own custom built site, collecting members details for e-shots, offers, etc.

MY customers, not Ebay's or Amazon's. I decide what happens, not them idiots and I won't tolerate fuck wits like the above, who don't have the brain power to read what they are buying and then leaving a negative, which they don't understand affects your seller status and discounts.

Also living in fear that Ebay/Amazon could literally ruin your business whenever they choose, seen it happen, no explanations just suspended a seller account and the support staff are clueless twats based in Timbuk Two.

Then you have the spiteful cunts who do understand this and try and use it against you. "I will leave you negative feedback" - Fuck off.
