According the Used Motorcycle Guide, a very forthright second hand bike buyers guide magazine from the mid 90's, "The CD185 is a bike that will smoke, rattle and bang its way into history as a motorcycle worth forgetting. In the unlikely event that you find one still running, you should do the decent thing and drop a match in the tank."

Own one. They're horrible. I paid £250, three years ago for a 1978 model with 11k on the clock, one owner and fairly good condition and it's done less than 1k since because somethings always going wrong with it.
Top's out dead on 77mph (Honda wobbly needle speedo) and does 45-50mpg, if you can stand the vibrations.

I've seen minter's for £800 but I wouldn't buy another and I like old slow, slightly crap bikes.

I sold mine for 30 quid. I still think I ripped the guy off. I cannot believe that a couple of years earlier they built the CD175 which is a minor classic, then unleashed this piece of shit on the world. Slow, rotted to bits, and unreliable.

Of course, if you want to know what it would SELL FOR rather rthan what it's WORTH.

Somewhere between £250 and £500 if ebays completed listings are anything to go by.

Here is me trying my good friends CD175 out for size, he gave me first refusal when he said he was rebuilding it,

then several years later...... Rolling Eyes

it's tiny Laughing and was just too silly for me

he swapped it for an ex-army Cagiva trail bike Thumbs Up

Holy thread resurrection!

Nostalgia kicked in tonight so I did a search for my 1st "proper" bike.

A Honda CD185T Benly (mine was blue)
The search also threw up this thread.

Couldn't believe the price.

some dealers ask ridiculous prices for old bikes. i noticed this when looking at Enfield 500 classics. places asking for more than the bike cost new, and yet i could go on Ebay and find them for a third of the price.

There's been too much of that 'classic innit mate' shit going on for a while now where a pile of rusty old crap
which wasn't in any wayspectacular when new, is suddenly worth hundreds if not thousands of pounds.
