Hey guys,

So I am in the middle of a project building a summer bike. I have the frame and parts of a CD200 Benly. However the only thing missing is the engine. I acquired all the parts complete with the frame including the 12v electrical system. It is pretty much built minus the engine and carb.

I have been looking on eBay and gumtree for a CD200 engine and carb but I haven't had any joy! Is there another engine that will bolt straight in, preferably bigger than 150cc. Or does anyone know of any engines for sale? I am desperate as I want to finish this build before winter comes.

Thanks,

Shep.

CM200 used the same motor....I used a CD200 many years ago for bike training and around town it was a great little machine....get it out of a 30mph limit and it was the most underwhelming slow...underbraked and fk lethal handling bike I ever owned, granted the cheap shitty tires did not help on wet roads.

Effin thing lived for years after fitting fibreglass mud guards and cheap silencers ....I just could not kill the effin thing untill some vermin stole it from outside a friends house and crashed it trying to get away from the police!!!!!

Thank fek they did as it was a good excuse to buy that GSXR750 and start enjoying 2 wheels again Smile

Cheers mate. Yeah I've been looking into them. Equally as difficult to find it would seem!

A pair of leg-powered pedals would be an mpovement over the original engine.

I'd look at the Honda CB250 engine from the 90's, there must be a few of them about still in good nick?

If it's not going to bolt straight in anyway and your going to need to do frame or engine mount modifications, I'd start looking at anything air cooled 250-400cc twin.

Then again if your doing a mint original resto anything but the right engine is totally useless to you. But if it was a bitsa cobbled together or a special then an XS or Z250 or GSX engine would all do as good a job as the Honda lump and still have the same air cooled style too.
