Sky Broadband has been sluggish for the last day or two, been fine for 3 years.

I'm running the sky hub in dmz passing the routing through to an Asus RT-AC68U, worked fine for ages.

Sky hub is still showing:

Modem Status Connected
DownStream Connection Speed 39992
UpStream Connection Speed 9996

When I run speedtest I get normal <20ms ping, unstable (up and down) but relatively decent speeds of 25 mb/s or so down which is a bit under usual but only 0.01 upload speed.

Before I start messing about and removing the router from the equation and/or ring sky's very helpful support etc has anyone get any ideas?

If it's through the phone line:
Restart/reset everything
Pick up the phone and listen for any crackling while restarting (you should also be able to hear the hub rebooting (it's very quiet though))
Remove the face plate from the phone socket and plug the line in to the test socket behind.
Dial (I believe) 17070 and select the option to check for noise on the line.

Last time I was with Sky (and BT), they said that because we had an occasional noise on the line, their system would see it as a fault and keep cutting back the broadband speed until it found a stable speed.... which usually ended up around 128 kbps

Zoe says very little noise on the line, I'm not sure if that's enough to cause an issue.

Download speed is poor now, struggling to post this, removed the Asus router from the equation and just used the sky hub, same issues.

Sky's own diagnostic service says everything is fine but can't give me any speed readings or find my hub to reboot it so looks like I've got the pleasure of their support team.

Hot weather cable stretch..... Causes issues with joints and thus system lowers speed to remain stable.
Couple this with a massive increase in people playing Pokomon and you have the answer.... Laughing

Came home from work today and it's fine all of a sudden. Thanks all the same.
