I need to get a gift for an old couple who live on a boat. I owe them big time for various things, not financially, just being helpful. They don't drink or smoke and I need to get them something. Any ideas for a good thank you gift?

Do they have any hobbies other than boating?

Rather than taking up their very limited storage space with Stuff, would they accept a financial contribution to their next debarnacling, or having their cannons re-brassed?

Take a decent photo of the boat, use one of they programs to make it look like an oldy-worldy photo or painting/drawing. Get it framed for them to hang inside the boat.

Some sort of water safe paint stripper. Old people worry unnecessarily about paint needing redoing on the boat roof. Thumbs Up

A big tin of biscuits. You can't go wrong with that.
Just make sure it's a tin so it can double up for keeping knitting stuff in it after the biscuits are gone.

Or am I stereotyping..... Confused

Pay for their next pump out, and do it for them.

I guess some fancy biscuits would be nice for them. The man is really handy with tools and stuff so I am sure his roof is just fine. Laughing

Regarding pump out, I think they are the hardcore narrowboaters who use a cassette type toilet. Sick

How about a photoshoot with a local photographer? Should cost less than £50 with a print..won't take space up on the boat and should be a bit of fun

Would your budget stretch to a couple of woolly jumpers? They'd come in handy during the winter.

The only gift they'll ever need. A pair of one-way tickets to Switzerland.

As most there seemed to be pretty hippyish - something sustainable, eco, spiritual or similar. (Try a charity shop - extra marks if you leave the label on probably Smile ).

Decent bino's would be great except they are avid bird watchers from what I have seen and I am sure they have multiple pairs.

They aren't old and decrepid old people, the guy is always outside cutting wood and painting stuff and it seems like he has everything he needs/wants so I don't want to get something that would be a waste of limited boat space.

So far, some nice foodstuffs is top of the list. Perhaps I shall visit a farm shop and get some assorted jars of things. Thinking
