Grippy tank widgets ( anti minge bruise devices)

New leathers, old bike. Bruised girl bits and nearly falling off every time I lean in.

Do I really need to spend £40 on Stomp grips or £35 on eazi grips?

Are there any pikey cheap alternatives?

There are cheaper ones, you should be able to get some for under £20 if you're willing to cut them to shape yourself.

Technique? At the moment none because I will literally slide off the bike even at stupid speeds, the slippyness is greater than the centrifugal force.

I did a trackday with a bloke who kept squashing his bollocks on the tank, his solution was a big block of foam gaffa taped to the tank.

There's that grip mat stuff you could get cheap, but cansa's link is probably better for not that much more money

Grips on the tank is what I am after, the seat is grippy but if I am arse off the seat then seat grip is pointless.

I had a cheaper cut to fit - had thought it was a proper 'stomp grip'.

Just stuck a couple of squares on randomly.

Definitely not as effective as the proper stomp grip, which I've now got.

It's got a lot more aggressive 'knobbles' - rather than just being round, they have a crater dug out of them which provides a sharp edge.
People have reported leathers getting knackered from them.
But then my last set of leathers cost half the price of the stomp grip .

If you want to try the 'cut to shape' ones, think I may still have an unused bit around.

With these you do have to grip with your knees - your may find for road riding you're fine to grip with your knees as it is.

Alternatively, the 'motovudu' technique that's popular with some right now has you wedge up against the tank all the time, to avoid weight changes when the bike's cornering etc.

Oh and - grip the tank with both knees while hanging off.

Then just move knee out as needed when at a decent lean. Minimises movement of weight is minimised.

I've had a dodgy shoulders for a while so having to isolate them from forces as much as possible (which is a good idea anyway for bike handling.)

So, in short, G, no substitute, get the real ones.

For road riding, a lot of people would say the opposite - so as to stop whatever they're wearing getting knackered.

But if you want the absolute best gripyness, I'd go stompgrip.

Just checked and it was the eazi grip cut to shape I had - definitely not as aggressive.
