Quote:
Last week TechCrunch came to you with the dramatic departure of AR helmet maker Skully’s CEO and co-founder Marcus Weller and now several sources from inside the company tell us the startup is no more.

Operations have ceased within the company, and we’re told the website will be turned off at some point today. Weller has also been asked to sign a confidentiality deal with investors.

Weller told TechCrunch today he will not sign and that he’s completely walked away from all dealings with the company as of 10 days ago.

“I’m shocked and deeply saddened that they would now shut this company down,” Weller said in a phone conversation today. “We were raising a Series B to continue raising capital but then we had a buyer…I’m almost dubious to this.”

Majestic 12 shut them down?

Did they ever actually ship a working product?

Ah well, I wish their creditors the very best of luck.

TLDR

What was so 'advanced' about their product/s?

Was it too pricey?

Were Heinous Gerike involved? Razz

Because they had stuck in a variety of existing products into a single helmet, claimed things were the 'first' when others had provided them long before and KICKSTARTTTTEEEERRRR!!*

*Ok, wasn't I don't think, but had that kind of zeal that a lof of kickstarter products get when in reality it's just assembling a few bits bought from alibaba.

It was a reasonable idea, but having to think in Russian put off a lot of customers.

If it said apple instead it would of worked.

I believe TechCrunch should hire some (New) editors before they stick some content out, or at least read what they wrote.

Well, yes; they may be on the wane, but if they marketed Apple iTurds (tm); they'd make a killing despite it just being faeces with a fruity logo.

I don't recall there being a readily available hud for helmets (regardless of what your opinion on their worth is), integrated or not. Same goes for realtime rear facing camera.

There are a lot of "oooh look hud for your helmet" but you can't actually go out and buy a them. Most, if not all, use rainpal-esque methods of demonstrating their product. Not that you can buy a Skully anymore, but they did manage to ship some product to end customers.

Indiegogo, which is the worst of the two - it as a less than 10% success rate.

Hi Adam, we've already got a thread discussing your imaginary invention, documenting your relentless self promotion in the face of rounds of failed fund raising and complete lack of evidence that you have, or will ever have, any physical product.

This is the part where you bluster (again) that you'll have something to show reeeeal soon now, followed by some vague unspecified threats about defamation. Oh boy, then we'll be sorry.

Get on your bike and peddle it somewhere else.

I saw a kickstarter recently to make a documentary about electronic music, interviewing three famous people who hadn't even agreed to feature in it, that included in its proposal a budget allocation of several tens of thousands of pounds (can't remember how many) to pay as a fee to an unspecified individual who would voice it! Seriously, kickstarter and indiegogo can just fuck off. Fraud is fraud.

Pass the popcorn
Hmm this just won't do, we need some larger popcorn buckets.

If you consider Gellar an upgrade from an Anyanka then I am disappoint, then again a Hannigan trumps all.

Stow that disappoint.
