Evening all, (no, I'm not a copper), with being a lower right limb amputee, it's obvious that I'll have a problem using the back brake because the ankle unit is solid, with very little flex in it, therefore, not much sensitivity. I'm looking at getting a 600 to modify with a thumb brake or a Yamaha XV535 which already has forward controls on and I can try and use the brake as fitted, the problem being, if I take my test on the Yam, I'll be restricted to lower powered bikes, this isn't a problem as such, as I can always get another bike if I wanted with restrictors fitted.
Has any of the learned members taken a test using a 535 or something similar?

You won't be able to take your test on the 535 as one of the requirements for the bike is it has to be at least 595cc. (Assuming you're going for the A license that is)

It's fine for A2, but OP knows that.

I'd be surprised if anyone has taken a test on a cruiser, they're not idea for the mod 1 stuff.

If you can manage the 600, I'd lean towards doing so. Are NABD helping out with the mods?

I'very joined the NABD, but not asked about assistance yet, I've seen the modifications and am considering the options.

Well, I've looked at 3 Fazers and 2 Bandits today, can't make my mind up, all look good and the owners seem honest and have answered all my questions. To me, the Fazers look the better bike and the build quality seems better than the Bandit. The bikes are 1999-2002 and fit the bill, the Honda Hornet's seem good too, but the prices are a lot higher and would eat into the money I have for insurance and modifications.

I know it's my choice but has anyone got a bias towards one or the other?

You don't have to use the rear brake, I passed Mod 1 just using the front. On the road I only use the rear for hill starts and sometimes during heavy braking.

I like both Bandits and Fazers and I have bought a Fazer. Obviously I have a bias for it. The Fazer FZS600 has better engine its old thundercat detuned one, Fazer engine has 97hp Bandit is 77hp, on top of that the Fazer is 198kg wet loaded, the Bandit is 208kg, Fazer brakes are much better especially the front one the caliper is famous blue 4 pots from R6.

Go for a Fazer, make sure its 2002/2003 foxeye version the headlights are much better than boxeye and you have two bulbs on by original design.

Just got me a cheap P reg Bandit, leaving me with enough money for insurance and modifications.

Happy bunny.
