I don't particularly enjoy the job I work in at the moment and am considering leaving despite not having anything lined up yet. I'm lucky enough to not have to worry about finances and am happy to take a bit of time looking for a permanent role that suits me.

In the meantime, just to keep a bit of extra money coming in, I've wondered what the world of short term IT agency work/contracting is like. I live in Southampton and am happy to commute around the city and immediate surrounding areas. I'm hoping there would be enough to keep me busy. Has anyone here got experiences with this sort of thing? How did you find it? Did the agencies and companies you worked for treat you well? Was there a reasonably steady stream of work?

Thanks in advance!

unless your current role is a total dogs arse why bother with the contracting bit ?

keep taking the money while looking for a new role.

if your bored spend you time on BCF and if you want to wind up some nerds head over to spiceworks.

however they are far more delicate then your normal BCF users.
So asking for pictures of their wives tits in relation to a networking issue is likely to end in a ban.

Hahaha! It is definitely dogs arse and is quickly driving me mad. Currently weighing up whether to hand in my notice and see if anything comes up. Plan B would be the contracting route. Just wondering if it's actually realistic or not...

Daft idea. Easier to find a job (and appear more employable) when you have a job.

Should take all of a month to find another role. Man up and start hunting. IMO

Fair enough. We've all been made redundant today, so the end is might anyway!
