Hi all, just posting about prince666 as he is known on My China Moto, in around 4 days he is about to set off on a Ride back to the UK from China, he will be crossing almost the whole of China, then into Russia, then Finland, Sweden then down to Calais and on to the UK and on to the Isle-of-man, his Chinese riding companions want to see the TT course.

He will be doing the ride on a CFMOTO CF-650TR-G also known as a WK-650TR-G, this is the new touring machine featured at the Milan show, it is a domestic version of the machine used by the Chinese Police, it has a more upright seating position with foot pegs further forward and handle bars further back, electrically adjustable screen, ABS etc.

If all goes to plan he should be at Lynn Raven' Café and Ponderosa possibly on the 13th August as well as wanting to meet up with any WK-650 owners or WK-650 enthusiasts, he would love to see loads of bikes and bikers there so please PM me if you are interested in meeting this brave or crazy fellow or simply post on here, his Chinese riding companions would love to meet real bikers.

For those who do not know it yet, the KTM Duke is made in the same factory as the CFMOTO machines like the one he will be riding, as KTM and CFMOTO are partners

This should be interesting. Has he got a blog or website or somewhere where he is going to post his progress/stories.

All KTM's are built in China now?

This looks very interesting. Are they sponsored by CF Moto or did they have to pay for the bikes themselves?

They bought the bikes and paying for the trip, they are being sponsored with Riding gear and all the spares and I suppose any on the route repairs etc.

It is going to cost them £20,000 each to get here and go back.

So we should were possible cheer them on where we can.

I'm interested to see how these bikes fare on this trip, which bits drop off or fail and what work needs doing. £20k is a lot to throw at a trip though. Good luck to them.

WTF is WeChat though?

Looks like they will be visiting friends and family down south first then the Ace café, the home of café racing, then moving up North, I will be meeting them if all goes well at Lynn Raven's café Whitchurch, then on to Ponderosa, I will know more after they arrive in UK.

Link to blog, chances are this will not get updated during the ride due to poor internet on route.

No.

https://cfmotousa.com/article/ktm-r2r-cfmoto-ktm-announce-partnership-cima/

Seem to be crossing out of the CF Moto and putting "KTM innit" on them to flog to the rapidly emerging Chinese middle classes.

Last time I check a lot of the small capacity street stuff (RC390 and below) was getting made in India (by Bajaj). Any EU bikes were sent to Austria for a nut and bolt check before being sent out.

The competition, off road and larger capacity stuff is still screwed together in Austria.

Things have moved on since 2013, even this link is out of date where it states they are manufactured in the CFMOTO factory

So why aren't they making the KTMs there for the rest of the world. It's still just for the Chinese market. Thumbs Up Hence the "KTM DNA" comment.

(KTM are actually playing a very canny game with these partnerships.)

Check out the pictures for the first city, especially the one with the commuter cars.

The meeting place today was to inflate the tyres with Nitrogen.

What does this do? Is it really that beneficial?

Nitrogen changes pressure less with heat than normal air does so you'll have a more consistent pressure in your tyres.

The only difference you'll actually notice is your wallet being lighter. It's a complete waste of time and money on a touring bike. Laughing

It's still a complete waste of time and money on a touring bike.

All of that sales pitch on the kwik fit website is just a sales pitch, you won't be able to notice any difference with nitrogen in your tyres.

The guy doing the ride from China had a tyre business in UK 20 Years ago and was using Nitrogen then, he would not bother with it for this trip if it did not have some effect on long journey's, if you are only a small trip out rider you might not notice any difference
