Hi newbie from Sunny Darwen. Been riding my Hyosung Gt125r for a couple of years now. Well nearly 3. Looking to do my das after my jollies or early 2017.

Done my theory just trying to work round work to get booked in.
Now I'm looking at a few bikes when I pass but not sure, my commute is 15 miles each way and I will be using it in all weathers apart from snow. In summer it's 15 miles of country roads and city centre stop start traffic. In winter I'll use the motorway which is 17 miles.

Looking at 2009 Kawasaki Er6/n Yamaha xj6, Ninja 300 and Honda cbr 300 or 500. Max budget £3500.

Looking for good fuel economy but not boring.

Boring is as boring does.

If you want to sip fuel, ride any bike smoothly and slowly.

If you want fun, rocking horse any bike with heavy use of the throttle and brakes.

After doing your training and tests on a 600/650, I doubt you'll want a 300 as a sole bike, at least not at first - I'd postpone any decisions until you're licensed up.

I will eventually want something bigger, but just want something with slightly more poke than my current 125.
And to get rid of my looney plates.

Are you saying that based on not having ridden anything bigger than a 125?

Your DAS training and tests are going to be done on something like an ER6 or SFV650, so you'll be ready to ride that sort of bike as soon as you're licensed up.

I'd just caution against committing to a 300 - 500 bike before you've had the opportunity to ride something bigger. You may still find that you enjoy smaller capacity bikes (I do), but make that decision based on information rather than assumption.

Yeah I've had a go very naughty I may add of a work colleagues Ninja 300 and also a mates Bandit 650.

I do like the extra power, but I'm also a sucker for newer rather than 5-9 year bikes.

I have a budget and when put in searches on bikes for £3500, 300-700cc with under 10,000 miles a lot of 300cc bikes come up.

I do like the Er6n/f though.
