I need a VPS for various reasons.

I want to host some websites.
I want to run some nodes for various things.
I want cpanel
I need 100gb of space

I am using interserver at the moment but I have no idea how they compare. I am only running one slice and it is very slow to do stuff and respond when running nodes and accessing through Putty.

I travel so running some hardware myself is not an option.

Any hosts fit this description and good prices?

An always-on Raspberry Pi is variously sufficient for those things.

Or maybe not. How would I know?

Really though, can't you leave something switched on at home?

No. No landline, no power when I am not there are the 2 most basic problems with having my own server.

I want to run some nodes for decentralised platforms. Nothing crazy intensive but it is a pain dealing with slow servers.

https://www.vultr.com/ Have good quality servers but are $5 a month

The link Colin posted has some really cheap ones although I imagine a lot of them are crap.

Another one I use is https://www.scaleway.com/ It is 3 euro a month and unlimited traffic, I totally abuse this one and make it host a game server and a few websites.

OVH were good and relatively cheap when I used them but I don't remember the specs.

WRT running your own hardware I actually don't think it makes sense in this price range unless you have privacy concerns, and even then I'm not sure it's anything other than bluster.

An RPi will work for some very limited use cases, but nothing intensive.

A standard desktop machine running 24/7 for a year will cost 50-100 quid in electricity alone. I was surprised to find my desktop idled above 50W.

If you buy a low-power machine for the purpose, even at 100 quid you've spent more than a VPS for 2 years.
